“OCCS Middenheim Challenge 10/07 - round 1

The cowardly elf balling Nëardeth's Academy got their first real test when they entered the Middenheim Challenge and faced the bashing Knossos United.

For a glorious half they fought like heroes, taking hits like real men and positioning to stop the chaos advance. But the margins wasn't with them. The luck failed when they needed it the most. After blitzing the opponent ball carrier on their own end zone line and stealing the ball they failed an easy dodge (double failed 2+) to move off and pass it to the waiting catchers...and often they stumbled in the arid desert sand with the worst possible timing. But they held up amazingly well.

In the second half they were down by one score wise, but they were on the offensive and could muster 11 players. But then RealMadns got hold of a megaphone and reminded them that they were weak, brittle little elves. Just like teenage girls their confidence shattered and suddenly they were bashed to a pulp. Through great effort they managed to score, finally evading the hated strip baller Bomb, but their last defense to go to OT ended in bloodshed. The match ended with just 4 elves on the pitch and Nuffle put in his classic kick on the downed by killing off Suintoh and awarding him the MVP.

The Nëardeth's Academy now have some recovery to do before they can dare face such a challenge again. Sadly many key players got crippled in this match.

Thanks for the match, RealMadns. Very exciting and fun match, with lots of twists and turns. It got a little one sided dice wise in the second half, but despite my frustration in the final turns I will look back on this as a cool match :) Good luck in the second round!
