“Despite a devastating start (I counted at least 8 1d blocks thrown by the little thugs that resulted in POW or POW/PUSHBACK in the first half) the Nebbish Lads managed to hold the thugs to a scoreless first half. The second half began with the now outnumbered lads attempting to cage the ball down field. However, the thugs superior strength of number meant that the cage quickly collapsed.
However, the Lads were able to tie up enough of the thugs down field to force the thugs to minimally protect their runner with the ball. This allowed Kennith Kingsman to recover the ball on thier own half of the pitch. One beautiful, if risky, pass later, Wesley Whittle was swarmed by little thugs. His luck would hold true, as none of them seemed able to pull him down. And after an amazing (and REALLY lucky) display of athleticism, Whittle managed to leap over the heads of the defending thugs and burn out the leather in his sandals on his way over the goal line as the clock counted down the final moments. (For those of you keeping track, he failed to go down after 4 separate 2d blocks, made the leap roll and 2 GFIs on Nebbish Lads turn 8)
All around a good game, however after looking back on it, I think that both Lars and myself were relying on our luck a little too heavily. This is a habit that I need to get away from or else this Wood Elf team will soon find itself retired.”
