“Well this match was the first bad experience I have had on FUMBBL and also the first match that I have had conceded against me. With 2 evenly matched teams, I always expected to be this to be close. The balance tipped in favour of my opponent when my only player with Guard failed his niggle roll.
I lost the kick-off and recieved. The first couple of turns were relatively uneventful and a big scrimmage began in midfield, trapping the ball carrier in it. I managed to get a 1d Pow result on the ball carrier to turn the ball over. Unfortunately my Blitzer who caught the scattering ball was surrounded by Orc and soon relieved of the ball. On T8 I managed to get the ball free and made a 3+ pick-up, a 2+ dodge and a 2+ hand-off for a TD.
In the second half I received. After a bit of movement from side to side, I was able to set up an easy run-handoff-run-quick pass-run-TD on T12. By this stage my opponent was starting to get frustrated that I "never" seemed to fail my rolls, while he "always" failed.
While I admit I did pass most of my Dodge rolls, almost all of them were 2+ rolls (some were 3+) and a few of them required me to use my Dodge skill reroll to succeed. It's not my fault that he decided not to take Tackle for any of his players, something that I have almost always encountered around this TR.
For most of the second half he kept complaining that I was going too slow and for me to hurry up. I know I'm not the fastest player on FUMBBL as I haven't played that many games here. I still have to stop and think about what the best option to take, and in what order to do my actions. However, at no point in the game did I take more than the 4 minutes allowed per turn. I told him that I was allowed to have time to think and his response was, "if you don't know how to play, don't play then."
After I scored the second TD, effectively ending his chances of winning or tying my opponent suddenly had to go somewhere. He took his turn of blocks, as well as one foul (which only Stunned my player and I think got his player sent-off! :-) ) before conceding just as I was about to retaliate in my turn. He also left me a nice message in IRC saying that, "I hope you get killed by anyone". Nice.
At least I managed to score 3 Serious Injuries on his players. After the way he treated me during the game it was satisfying that 2 of the SI's were from my only 2 fouls for the game (with no send-offs). In comparison, with his 2 fouls he gave me no casualties and got 1 player sent off. :-)
While I didn't like that my opponent conceded (something I never hope to do, barring some real-life situation that I need to attend to), I did appreciate getting some extra winnings and an extra MVP out of the match.
The strange thing about this match is that I don't know why my opponent got so angry and/or frustrated that he quit the game. I didn't goad or brag about the fact that I was beating him at any point, even when he started being less than friendly towards me (another friendly comment was that "even bad coaches can win with lucky dice"). I think with my CR being only 145, he might have been expecting that he could simply win the game and get a few casualties just by showing up. Either that or he just isn't a very nice person (to put it mildly).
