“Vertibrae just couldn't seem to get any momentum in this rain-soaked slugfest.
Play started with Paladins Of Purple getting a blitz. This allowed their guard-heavy team to effectively cripple our blocks, causing the ball to basically stop dead mid-field. The half ended with neither team able to score, my team with several CAS and 1 KO, the Paladins with 0 CAS, but 4 KOs.
Second half: no KOs return, giving Vertibrae an 11 to 7 lead in players. Another blitz result, which allows me to try and achieve the same shutdown that PurpleChest managed first half. It's mostly successful, however, PurpleChest manages an amazing series of dodges and the occasional 1d block. (It might be noted that I'm pretty sure I didn't make a single 1d block all game. Rerolled or not, they just didn't accomplish anything other then me hurting myself.) These plays allow him to slowly move the ball towards my end zone, and there doesn't seem to be much I can do against it - blocks end in pushes or skull/pows and the ball seems glued to PurpleChest's players, caught not once, but _twice_ as I brought down Paladin ball carriers.
In the end, it all comes down to a single ag 3 dodge - much like the ones that Paladin players had been (frustratingly) making all game long. However, this time, PurpleChest rolled a 2, and the game is decided as a tie.
If PurpleChest had been a little less lucky with the dodges, I probably could've won this, but I can't fault his play - he's a very skilled opponent, and even outnumbered he was constantly on the verge of scoring the winning TD.”
