#3 Temptress – Dead (RIP)
WIL Lion Conference VII - Round 5

Was a game where neither stars really did that much. The Necro's hired the Count and the zons, Zara. But the kick off's and dice were in my favour.

1st half the zons received, and scored fairly early giving the necros a good chance of coming back. However, their way was blocked by the blodgness of the zons and the Count could do nothing but safely cuddle the ball behind his front line.

The zons were happy that they had seen off both wights in the KO box 2nd half, and the wolf was tucked up in the BH box after an accidental trampling by the DP zon.

However, the Count broke through the defence and ran for the end zone... the zons were slow to realise this and gradually made their way back to force the count to score after a failed dodge exposed the amazon defence.

At 1-1 it was all to play for. The Wights returned from their KO as well, and the ref missed Zaras stakes once again.

The zons received, and despite pushing their way up the field they could do little to navigate Goo's defence. It took some rolls and some luck to get the winner.

Goo put up a valiant fight in the face of superior dice. We will miss Temptress... a faultless player. RIP. :-)

Cheers Purple... finally beat you... although it helped that Nuffle and the ref were with me!

#8 Azertraph – Broken Ribs (MNG)
#8 Azertraph – Smashed Knee (NI)
Tough game in which any lingering hope DFTS had of a playoff birth slipped away.

Wotfud's girls with Zara began with the ball, and the Count led Necro horde went on the defensive. Nuffle signaled his intent early with a KO and a no regen BH on the LOS, and immediately, DFTS were on the back foot. Wotfud went for the quickie, and in T3 scored pretty much unopposed in a corner. We were pretty chuffed with this, as some maths on all 20 fingers and toes before the game led us to believe that a tie was good enough with a DFTS victory in our last game and the CD's beating Wotfud.

With the Count on the ball, we began to advance. I half blame myself for not scoring, as I got sucked into the game that Zons like to play, and half blame Nuffle. Stuff like the Lady fouling with the eye getting a BH on a stricken Wolf then a KO (iirc) with no ejection and the Zombie getting nada on AV7 and ejected was turning the tide in the trenches, and eventually, only needing the tie, we tucked up and forgot about scoring, picking up a RIP on a handy Blitzer on the way.

Second half, and Nuffle piled it on. Neither Wight awoke from their slumber, Zara stayed on the field, and a Blitz! was granted to the Amazons. All alone with just Ma4 for company, Luthor was pretty much killing his agent for the situation he was in, as the hungry Amazons advanced. With nothing left to do, I simply ploughed him straight down the middle with no support, trusting to the luck gods. For some reason, instead of simply surrounding and hitting with tackle on a 2db (with 2 GFI's), Wotfud tried some kind of Dodge 'aggressive' combination, and failed. The gleeful Count sprinted away, stopping for a turn on the line to wipe his boots.

4 turns remained for a clinching TD, and DFTS had all three tacklers back. Despite our greater fanbase, the ladies in the crowd proceeded to get the ref. They're prolly hotter than decomposed flesh, tbh. Can't blame him. Wotfud sucked me down one side, and despite knowing the switch was imminent, I simply had to commit with my lack of Ma. The switch came, and on my T16, I had a TZ on everyone, and at least forced Wotfud to roll dice. A meaningless 1db followed, Skull, RR, POW, and I got all excited - as it seemed a brainfart would win me the day. Zara made a 3+ Dodge / POW, and a Thower ---> Catcher quick pass in the bright sunshine won the game.

Bit of a shame really from my POV, never expected to challenge going into the season, but the division opened up really for me to have a crack at second place. With a game to go against Ludo, barring any huge death silliness, we get what we wanted out of this season, namely a decent team at TR200 - prolly 2 Wolves after a friendly, and we are ready for a proper assault on a Conference Championship, and the Premiership, next season. With my PBI team at 8/3/0, I'm the very last person that can moan about cheesy 'Zons getting lucky, as I am the no.1 exponent of that art. Best of luck Wotfud, I hope Sera leaves you a team with which to win the playoffs for Lion.

EDIT: Hehe - that makes me 4/2/1 over you - right? I always lose the ones I really want - bastig! :D
