“The second game for the Casuals saw them face off against a Lizardmen team in awful playing conditions. Receiving in the first half, the Casuals were held in the centre by a strong Raptors front line, and the game descended into a muddy brawl with neither side able to keep their footing. Eventually the ball came free behind the Casual's front line and they were punished for not keeping a deep defence when a skink ran free with the ball to score.
In the second half the Casuals started strongly, lowering the Raptor's numbers with some good blocks and stopping a move down the right. Black Orc blocker Dorgun Ratlikka managed to scoop up the loose ball and made a run for the Raptor's rear. His pace wasn't sufficient however and he was quickly tackled to the ground. The ball bounced around for the next few turns as the Orcs threw players forward to try and retrieve it, whilst the Raptors tried to pick it up and carry it to safety. Finally a skink was able to dodge out and carry away the ball to safety. It looked like another score was on for the Raptors but some last ditch defending knocked the ball loose again. All in all a very enjoyable match!”
This game was a typical one of pouring rain...it rained...and rained some more! The players on both sides slipped and fumbled the ball...again...and again. It was a wet one - where the lizards managed after an entire first half of scrambling to knock the ball free and then got some good dice to pick it up and run it in for the 1-0 halftime lead. The Raptors received in the second half; however, the half mostly consisted of bashing back and forth and chasing the ball around the pitch as it was kicked around and no one keeping it for more than a turn. A rough game for both teams in term of development - however, the fans did shower us with coin for the first time - perhaps appreciating our efforts finally?”
