We entered the game going against arguably the best team in the OBBA. A team that had streaked through opposition, defeating teams left and right and causing 51 CAS in only 12 games. Having the highest scorer - a greatly feared one-turner; and also the highest fouler in the league (again by a wide-margin). Our team was approached by others that had played these loathsome rats and we made a vow to show no mercy. And so we did not :P
We kicked off to start with and InterRatzionale received the ball. However, they messed up the one-turn attempt and instead, decided to hold the ball. Obviously inexperienced at this taking multiple turns to score, they left Zlatan open to a 2d blitz...needed a POW...but got it after using a RR...and BADLY HURT! The crowd booed...it wanted to see a more damaging foul...but at least he was out of the game. We proceeded to bash the opposing rats into the ground. On the second turn, Julio Cesar (rat ogre) skull/pow'ed a block and the turnover gave Houston a chance to pounce...InterRatzionale's players were flying off the field as claw after claw and boot after boot merciless removed the players from the pitch (oh and a crowd push or two as well). Instead of scoring, Houston waited out all of the first half - much to the screaming protests of the opposing coach. However, InterRatzionale was reduced to only 3 players left on the pitch when Houston scored.
Receiving in the second half, InterRatzionale got a blitz on a short kick and Julio Cruz ran under tha ball and caught it. The wizard was dispatched and Julio Cruz was carried off the field and into retirement. Houston continued to foul and block and drove quickly for the 2-0 score. Refusing to let up - Houston continued to foul all opposing threats and line up 3d blitzs to remove any chance of heroics from the opposing team.
Since InterRatzionale had not lost a game yet, we were not about to go soft on them...and we did not - we kept up the pressure the entire game to make sure that we had a complete victory. Our team rejoices in capturing the cup - however, is already turning attention to Conference North for this coming season...new challenges await and we will be ready for them!”
