“Opening game between rookie high elves and goblins in the #145 Rookie Cup.

Fans betting on something special from the goblin ranks turned out in their droves to find their hopes confirmed - the goblins had smuggled no less than 5 secret weapons into the stadium!! 2 chainsaws were brandished, one goblin whipped out a pogo stick and another two had balls & chains!

Crazed fans got so excited they invaded the pitch just as the match was to start, knocking down players with disregard to what team they were on. This was going to be a bloody game!

The high elves started with the ball and put together a standard offensive push, switching sides when put under pressure. However they didn't account for 'Barber' McGinley who by then had his chainsaw well and truly on and ready for blood. He managed to attack a player every turn in the 1st half - his best play being when he dodged to the ballcarrier and sawed off his hand!. After that the gobbos seemed to have the upper hand, using the chainsaw to remove elves from the pitch while keeping the ball safe in Jordo's Pogo-equipped hands, scoring handily on turn 8.

However high elf cheating reared it's ugly head at this point as coach Prophane clearly backhanded something to the ref as he sent off both chainsaws! One hadn't even been turned on! And then on the poor goblin's first turn he sent off one of my kickers! I swear he fell on that high elf! It's those big boots he wears ref - he can barely turn around without accidentally stomping on some pointy-eared whinger!

Things turned ugly from then on as the elves fought for the ball half way from the brave gobbos' endzone. Both fanatics had a fantastic time flying around the pitch knocking down elves willy nilly but it was hard to lock down the elves with so few able bodies to cover the ball. One fine move by 'Das Boot' Gurkins saw him break Deebo's neck with a flying boot (even the ref agreed it couldn't be a foul) near the ball.

At this stage there were only a couple turns on the clock and a handful of remaining players from each team though the score was still favoring the innocent goblins. A hopeful moved turned disastrous when pogo-bouncer 'Air' Jordo blitzed the ball out of the hands of a puny elf only to impale himself through the chest with his pogostick as he strained to reach the ball! Despite brave, brave efforts by the honorable goblins they couldn't stop sneaky Smokey from scoring the touchdown that brought us to extra time.

This did not favor the gobbos as by then only 4 of them could set up for the kick off! What followed was the most brutal, underhanded and fouly set of turns these innocent lambs have ever had to watch. Within 4 turns there were no goblins on the pitch and the high elves strolled in 2 touch downs to end a game that really should have gone the way of honor, righteousness and hugs - ie to the Goblins!”
