“This game had the mother of all build ups, like those Grand Finals of yore where the hype whips the fans into a frenzy. Unfortunately, like most Grand Finals, the competition did not live up to expectations.
Our handicaps were palmed coin and smelling salts, of help but not enough. We pushed forward trying to break through the line of Orcs, but we faltered and had to move the ball carrier back. Plat smartly pursued the ball, tying up my players. Dixie Chicks got crowdpushed (I forgot Plat had a Blitzer with Frenzy) but thankfully only a BH resulted. Then, Plat managed to break through my screen of elves and deck the ball carrier. I couldn’t regroup and a Black Orc happily grabbed the ball and scored. 0-1.
2nd push forward, and this time we tried to push forward again, but we couldn’t get through. More BH’s resulted and a RIP on The Rack was thankfully apothed. Still, we couldn’t get past. 0-1 first half.
Plat get the ball easily in the second half, and with only 9 players we struggled. Giving the ball to the plucky BoB again, Plat worked his way upfield, bashing as he went. There was little we could do, and 2-0 quickly followed.
Next kick, we tried to stall and protect our players, holding back. Plat chased after, allowing a couple of players to sneak through for a possible last turn score….and it worked, just! A bit of respect and dignity, 2-1.
Plat then tried for the TTM, but it didn’t come off. 2-1 the final result.
A very impressive performance by Plat, great placement by his BoBs and Blitzers meant there was too much tackle and not enough space through which to dodge. I’d also like to mention that he fouled, but not excessively. Given my luck and stupid plays, he probably could have decimated my team if he wanted to. I’m very happy he chose to focus on scoring!
As for Torturer’s Picnic, there were a few positives in this game. Firstly, no FF loss, which was amazing given no cas, only 1 TD and the loss. Second, we were considering retiring Paris Hilton to allow her more time in rehab…that is more time on her International Aid work…so the RIP just forced the decision. Third, we received a decent amount of cash, 50k. And Finally, Thousand Cuts failed to age at the 30+ Spp mark.
The loss does leave us needed a draw to ensure our progression to Premier though. Expect the elves to go hard next game. and expect the Coach to get a kicking if he doesn't back up the players!

#3 - Ursus Spelaeus – Who else? 2 TDs for a BoB is a great feat.
#2 - Ursus Maritimus – 2 cas from 5 blocks. That Guard also made it near impossible to get any 2 die blocks back
#1 - Smilodon Populator – One of the effective Blitzers.
Well done on the win Plat. And as you pointed out, at the very least we won’t be seeing each-other next season…one way, or the other :) ”
