The Undead came marching into town, but we were ready! Captain Theresa had been practicing the ancient arts of blocking and recently seemed to have a heavier, harder block. Indeed...that proved tree this game as well as she did almost all the damage - racking up 4 CAS - several on the nasty ghouls that flittered all around. Evil undead must be destroyed.
In the first half, we received the ball and both sides started to foul...the ref seemed completely blind...as opportunities arose, both sides even fouled with the eye on them - and no one was caught the entire game (10 fouls total). After a quick score - we kicked off and then Angmar the standfirm mummy smashed into our defense along with some zombies...well we smacked Angmar down...and it was observed that Stand Firm can be really nice. Of course...he was stillin the middle of our players and Stand Firm has some drawbacks...RIP on the foul - and regen fails. With the mummy out, it was clear to us that the undead would start to lose the desire to play - we stole the ball and scored and were up 2-0 kicking off.
Oh, were we ever wrong! Coach Damatze is not unfamiliar with adversity and he struck hard and fast...a quick score right before the half and it was suddenly 2-1...we kicked off to start the second half and in a blink, it was 2-2...We rallied the forces - this game was not over just because the mummy was gone! We pushed forward and it was rough and difficult, but Captain Ar-Surin took care of the ball well and we punched it in. However, several turns (4 I think), and the Undead were driving again. The ball in the hands of Khamul (the other mummy), he pushed downfield...but the Corsairs had had enough - the defense was stiff and the undead thrown back - several turns of blocking, but no openings appeared and the game was over. A well played and hard fought 3-2 win for the Corsairs.”
