“Both teams entered this game expecting a all out shootout, as they pitted speed against speed. Since both teams had yet to win a game, they went in with a chip on their shoulder the size of the field, hoping to put points on what was still a blank 0 on the tourney board.
The game started off with the Woody Monkeys receiving the ball. Baring their teeth at their hated counterparts the Dark Elves, the offensive line quickly bore down, knocking away the entire defensive line, allowing Wardancer Eltharion to jump in and grab the ball, bringing it to the line of scrimmage. The Dark Elves quickly recovered though, barreling through the line of Wood Elves, and quickly surrounding the Wardancer. By some luck of fate however, the Wardancer was true to his name and danced out of the way of the charging linemen, running back up the field, before passing the ball to Lineman Balalaika, who had broken through the line in the blitz and was now waiting downfield. A couple of steps later, and the first score was on the board.
After that, things began to roll downhill for the Dark Icemen, who found their attempts at offense stifled by the Woody Monkeys defense. Moving forwards in a cage formation, they found themselves eventually overwhelmed by the Wood Elves, as the top corner finally went down under a pile of yellow and gold elves. The Wardancer jumped in, and with a flying leap, barreled into the Dark Iceman ball carrier, jarring the ball loose and into the hands of Balalaika again, who then sprinted his way around the field before jumping past the line for the second TD of the day, with only seconds left in the first half. Just before finishing off those last few seconds, the dark elf fans decided that they had had enough, rushing onto the field, and knocking out six of the wood elf players! Lineman John was hurt badly, but thanks to the help of the local apothecary, he was saved from a permanent injury. Unfortunately, the invasion happened too late as there was not enough time to score for the Dark Icemen.
The second half did not go much better, as the cage formation of the dark elves again found itself under pressure by the crazed Monkeys of the wood. In one fell swoop, five dark elves were knocked out cold, and the ball carrier found himself buried under three or four linemen, letting go of the ball, which was then picked up and carried in by Lineman Elarin.
The Dark Icemen exacted some measure of revenge in the end however, bringing in five lineman on Lineman Elking, crushing his hand so badly that he will miss the next game, and may even face some permanent pain. Even that came at a cost however, as they were unable to stop Wardancer Eltharion from sprinting past the line, picking up the ball, and cruising in for the fourth TD of the day.
In the end, it was the Wood Elves that won the shootout, shutting out a potent Dark Elf offense, and scoring a record number of TDs this season. All that came at a cost however with the loss of Elking, and the Dark Elves emerge with an even bigger chip for the next week.”
