“The Den - match 1
--------------------------
I can't believe I ended up winning this one. Christmas came early for spiggle, who got fed a bunch of excellent kick off results and was boosted by a ridiculously effective rat ogre.
Despite getting most of my team locked up due to a perfect defense I managed to squirm myself free and score a 2 turn TD. One BH and one niggle after two rounds made the match an uphill struggle though, and it kept on with lots of KO's and injuries that constantly left me outnumbered.
The Politicians tied the match after a few rounds and then got a Blitz when I recieved which prevented me from another TD.
Lousy KO rolls put me at 8 vs 11 in the second half and now it was the opponents turn to recieve. A jolly Nuffle awared him an extra reroll to boost him further. Perhaps it lured spiggle into a sense of false security, because after having disposed of another 2 of my players he started earning easy SPP's by passing the ball at the end of every round. With few rerolls it meant room for my 4 gutter runners and they did their work and snatched the ball up to score another TD. I lost Vision in the process to the brutal rat ogre.
In the end I was actually closer to scoring 3 - 1 than to lose the lead. 3 1d block skulls in a row was what stood in the way of a 2+ dodge to another TD. But having won such an immense uphill struggle I'm still very pleased.
The match winnings allowed me to replace the RIP'ed thrower, but it's going to be an extremly tough match against the team with the best start of the league so far in the next round.
Thanks for the match, spiggle. I guess you can never count out AG 4 players, hehe.”
I really started well, got some early casualties, Big David Blunkett the rat Ogre was a monster. 4 casualties (1 niggled SI and 1 death) in his 1st game really set the tone for this. I gave him Tentacles for his reward to keep those damn Gutter Runners in check.
They were the difference, that and some fearless play from Pirog game him a well earned 2-1 win. When he needed to pass his dodge rolls he did, when he needed to pass his GFI and pass rolls he did. I probably tried to rack up some SPP, but i did it with 2 players back and tried to play safe, it cost me.
However, my thrower got 3 completions. No casualtied and a skill up on my Rat Ogre puts me in great shape for my next match, which i'm assuming is the remaining filler place against Phrollick.
Phrollick will be out for revenge after denying him the Speedbowl title last year. Bring it on!!!!”
