A strong performance from the Lightnings. The match opened with Me, Myself and Aye (MMA) kicking, and they were able to catch the Lightnings flat-footed, getting players into the opposingg half and threatening the ball before any of the Lightnings had even moved. Further problems happened when the Lightings finally started moving, as Dangerous Beans fluffed a simple pass, leaving the ball dangerously loose. Fortunately, MMA failed to fully exploit this lapse, as the thrower sent in to recover the ball failed to properly gather it, the turnover giving a lifeline to the battered Lightnings' offense. They retrieved the ball, and looked like scoring despite the various problems, but calamity struck again as Nourishing failed to dodge her way past Alan, an MMA Lineman. The ball flew into the crowd, and they helpfully sent it deep into the MMA half. MMA missed their pickup, possibly to even things out, and from there the Lightings ran home the touchdown.

With the Lightnings kicking, it was MMA's turn to attack. They formed a tight cage around their ball-carrier, with the aim of grinding down the pitch to score. The Lightnings, however, had other ideas. They harried MMA at every turn, threatening to steal possession the whole time and not letting MMA get reorganised. MMA eventually worked their way deep into the Lightning's half, and looked threatening, but Darktan had other ideas. Stripping the ball from the hands of the MMA ball carrier, his action allowed the Lightnings to surround the ball in tackle zones and make the situation as safe as possible, with little time left on the clock. MMA chose to attempt one last roll of the dice, pushing a player into the ball in the hope that it would usefully scatter, and against the odds, it came off! The ball bounced in the direction of John, and he pulled off a fantastic catch to secure the ball. From there, the touchdown was easy for MMA, John running it into the Lightnings' endzone as the referee's whistle blew.

In the second half, it was MMA to receive. They adopted the same offensive strategy as before, forming a cage around the ball carried. Darktan moved in to release the ball, and then Nourishing pulled off a spectacular feat ot acrobatics, leaping into the centre of the MMA pocket, grabbing the ball, and dodging her way out again. From there, she handed the ball to Sardines, who ran home her second of the afternoon.

Following the next kick-off, the match followed the same pattern as prevoiusly, with MMA desperately trying to protect the ball from an onslaught of rats. The Lightnings once again put the ball to ground, but this time MMA escaped in possession. They didn't get far - the ball was quickly stolen, and Sardines completed her hat-trick. No further touchdowns were scored after that, although the final whistle went with the Lightnings in another strong postion, having broken the pocket and released the ball into more open play.

An enjoyable game.
