“Man of the Match: Eugene ‘Mercury’ Maurice

The Dauphins got off to a winning start against the Big Eds, whose inability to make key blocks effectively cost them this game. The fearsome hitting of the Ogre frontline put 3 Monamie players out of the game on the first drive but a missed key block led to a Monamie sucker punch TD. Sonnecar passed short to Maurice who ran in the score.

The Eds hit back in style with some brutal hitting that led to a truly amazing ‘throw team-mate’ play involving Goblin ‘Special’ Edward who lived up to his nickname with an incredible acrobatic flying TD that left the scores even at half-time.

In the 2nd half however a crucial blitz on the opening kick-off by Dauphins Blitzer ‘Mercury’ Maurice saw him recover the ball, from which Juenes scrambled over for a Monamie score.

Any hope of an Eds revival was killed on the next drive, the Ogres’ blocks began to go astray and they lost possession in their own half of the field. The Dauphins recovered and Mereneau fired a touchdown pass to Offerdahl to wrap up the game.
