“SWL Season XXIII - Schiffer's Scissor Conference - Round 5
The fifth showing between these two teams, we came into this match hoping to even the score (1/1/2 before this match). Receiving in the first half was a good decision, and a reasonably solid drive saw us moving up the field nicely. Some sloppy caging, however, nearly got us into a lot of trouble. Had the ball bounced differently when Bodhidharma took down our ball carrier, things would have gone quite differently.
Fortunately, the bounce was favourable, and we were able to recover the ball, and due to a failed GFI, were able to secure the ball. In the end, Shin Kikka took the ball in for a comfortable touchdown in turn 8.
Half time score: 1-0
We were without a kicker, Knee Snappa never showed up for the match, and Leg Breaka was sent off for what the ref called a foul (I'm sure it was a perfectly legal ground block - dunno what he was thinking). As a result, the poor kick resulted in a touchback, which went to Kisui. From there, we barely even got a touch on the ball carrier.
The Adepts run a solid drive up the pitch, and never really looked in much danger. When the KOs started flowing in, it was all over, and Kisue had no trouble strolling in for a touchdown.
Full time score: 1-1
Twahnlow Votes 3 pts: #1 Roshi Understanding
A couple of very handy KOs in the second half, and solid positioning to protect the ball carrier.
2 pts: #9 Bodhidharma
For taking down our ball carrier in the first half, nearly settling the game there and then.
1 pt: #8 Kisui
Solid ball carrier. We never got close to him thanks to the efforts of his teammates.”
