“I think this game was a demonstration of why 1 Reroll just isn't enough on a team lacking (much) Block or Dodge. My own strategy was to bog down the Dark Elves as much as possible, forcing Moke to waste his reroll, after which he made quite a few turnovers.
My fortune was good in the 1st half - several favourable kick-off results made Moke's life even harder, and allowed me to secure a 2-0 lead, before I got greedy and conceded just before half-time, to a TD I may have stopped if I'd not pressed forward, looking to score again myself. The fact that the heavens opened encouraged me to do this, though Moke's Dark Elves did well to cope with the conditions.
The 2nd half was something of a stall on my part - again, I waited for the reroll to be used, and my back-field ball-carrier was left all alone for quite a few turns. In the end, I used my own last RR on a speculative effort to score, which I aborted when the first dodge (rerolled successfully) failed. Moke could have score in the last turn to tie the game, but left himself too long a pass.
I regressed a bit to my old style of slow, considered (and excruciatingly boring) play - I did want to make sure that the Corvettes escaped unscathed from this match, which they finally did.
#15 Aerdan Dromondeer gained a yard of pace in training after this match, and the team could finally afford an apothecary, the lack of which has seen players depart in each of the team's first two games.
I wish Moke well in his fledgling FUMBBL career, and urge him to aggressively pursue the ball as he did towards the end of the game, especially with Dark Elves, instead of lining up as many two-dice blocks as possible. I find such a tactic rarely works with Elves of any hue.
