Coach Rockie was full of praise for his teams improved blocking effort as they pulled off an exciting 3-1 win against Das Rat Empire. "I can't fault the boys today. We managed to get all the basics right and got our reward. Our blocking was excellent." He said post-match.
Although it was thought the Dauphins would struggle offensively without the injured Mereneau to call the plays, their first drive was characterised by some powerful offensive play. Tailleur, ably deputising for Mereneau, threw an excellent Touchdown pass to the impressive new Blitzer 'Crash' Jeanson.
The Dauphins defense showed a great deal of resilience as the Empire sought to respond. Some excellent play managed to keep the fast paced Das Rats out of the endzone until Gutter Runner Vermillion snuck over on the stroke of half-time for a demoralising score.
However in the second half the Dauphin defense again showed great heart and managed to stop the Empire on the goalline when Vermillion stumbled and fell agonisingly short of his second TD. The Dauphins quickly counter-attacked, Quiiqe held on to the ball and passed to Jeanson who ran half the length of the field to score turning the game on it's head.
The Skavens' discipline, which had been wavering throughout the game (and saw 2 players ejected for some crude fouls) disintegrated at this point as disorganisation swept through their ranks. Monamie's Blitz cut through their lines and Jeanson capped a magnificent day when he lived up to his 'Crash' nickname by felling the hapless Vermillion who was fatally injured. Maurice Recovered the ball to run over for the final score.”
