After our last game against the Droids we were set to take on some well trained clones and Jedi, but this time we were to do it without Sifo-Dyas and possibly even Lama Su who was still waiting on the results of his Physical.

The Anchorhead Avengers were new Arrivals to the Blood Bowl circuit but they had already made a big impression for just getting this far.

One of their Jedi had been given a force shield before the game, an upgrade that only a light sabre would penetrate, and sadly these weren’t allowed on the pitch. Then of course the physical results came in and Lama Su was deemed unfit. This would have left us with a worse team to field than our opponents, so a quick visit to the doctor got Lama Su fighting fit… although we would now have to be mindful.

Our Jedi counterparts received first and immediately got themselves into trouble as their frenzied Jedi went in too deep, luckily he stood his ground. The other Jedi failed to pickup the ball and thus the impetus was already with us as we pressured the ball.

Lama Su proved instrumental after blitzing the Jedi who had finally scooped up the ball, picking it up and scoring himself. 1 – 0

With an early score against play we had hoped that this alone would secure the game. The Avengers received again and a deep kick would leave them struggling to reply in the time remaining. We managed to hold them off but took two KOs to clones in the process… thankfully they recovered for the second half!

Our initial drive could not have been better… the Jedi and droid at the LOS were all stunned, a feat that alone would have won any game save for the fact that these Jedi leapt to their feet like few others. Nevertheless, the clones provided a protective channel to run Lama Su unmolested down the flank… or so we thought. One of their Jedi suddenly burst through the barricade of clones, dodging, once, twice, thrice - then using two successive blocks to hurl Lama Su off the field and scatter the ball… most impressive!

With 4 v 3, and our Clones failing to emulate the Jedi’s dexterity it seemed the Avengers were heading for overtime, but then disaster stroke, and a clone spectacularly failed to block one of our clones in a feat that would have had a Sith Clone executed!

Our lead was upheld and a place in the Return of the Jedi final was ours!

With a Niggling out Jedi, Iron Man, and PML receiving first, it couldn’t have been much worse as a start… and it meant that if I didn’t use the Apo then his Two BlockTackle Linos and Two Norse Blitzers would be better than any 4 clones I could put out… so Lama was Apo’d into the game.

A dodgy starting move for PML (1d frenzy then -2d) allowed me to get into the thick of it which I did and ultimately produced the only TD. I got some lucky KOs for the second half, but when PML made the 4+, 4+, 3+ and 2 1d blocks to shove me out of bounds I thought we were heading to overtime.

Thankfully PML seemed to be rolling a lot of double skulls relatively speaking, and did so in his last turn to end his drive… maybe a dodge would have worked. ;)

Overall a gg and thankfully no injuries for once in this tourney!
Well played PML.
