#7 Zathamell – Dead (RIP)
#12 Lakephu – Dead (RIP)
Wow, what a game. Another exciting and close game, although once again the end result is another loss and a weaker team than I started with. It was even more violent than the casualty results would suggest, with a number of knockouts and injuries caused by failed dodges and gfis - there was hardly a failed roll the whole game that didn't result in the player leaving the field.

I learned two new things before the game had even started, one being that you don't get to make niggling injury rolls before picking who to give your handicaps to, and the other being the ironman doesn't protect a player from a niggling injury.

It was looking good though for Temple of Sotek for a while when they got to 2-0 up with a lot of elves missing from the field, but in the end it wasn't to be.

They got there a very roundabout way, with both touchdowns coming from Saurii.

They started the first half receiving the kick, and once again made a mess of it trying to score too fast as the ball carrier's attempt to dodge into free space left them in the free space of the badly hurt bin. An attempt to put pressure on the ball carrier ended in two of our players pushed off the field, by which point there were no skinks left. However, the pressure on the ball was still on, and when trying to dodge away they were knocked out leaving the ball sitting in the end zone, but with only Ag1 to pick it up. However Zathamell came to the rescue and scored.

The lizards then followed this straight up with a blitz on the kickoff. WDD were unprepared and had left a big gap in the centre around N'aanachakrar. Although the elves got the ball back, they were out of position and couldn't protect it adequately, and after it bounced into Mithollam's lucky grip he went on to score.

It was looking good with 6 elves and 11 lizards on the pitch. However, even without a lot of players, the WDD are hard to stop from scoring, and with two turns left in the half they received two kickoffs to make it 2-2 in short order.

The hero of the first td, Zathamell, was also fouled to death for her trouble. The apothecary was saved for later, which would have been the clever move that saved the team's highest spp player Lakephu, except that the apo roll failed anyway.

So it came down to the last play. The lizards were receiving, and were still ahead, although a fair bit less so than before. Hazosca made a switch play and a run down the side line, where I thought he was safely out of range of any blitzing, but The Whoberry managed to get a path cleared to get there on two gfis and knock the ball out. It dropped out of anyone's reach however, and it looked like Hazosca would score anyway the next turn, but instead Hazosca dodged his way into the seriously injured bin. The ball was thrown across the field to Horse, who was almost but not quite out of range. Horse was knocked over, but again the ball bounced out of reach, and unlike Hazosca, Horse had no trouble dodging away and recovering it for the winning td.

All in all a good game from the Saurii and a terrible one from the skinks. Congratulations to erikekers who played excellently, and all the players as well of course.

Twanhlows:
3 Horse - Did the most hard work out of the catchers and scored the two difficult touchdowns out of the three.
2 Smoker J - Refused to leave the field despite being the only player without block or dodge (well, except for Mr Murray who also didn't have dodge, but look what happened to him), and made some key long passes over opposing players with ease.
1 Rainbow Warrior - 2 fouls, 2 casualties. Much as I now hate the dirty bastard you have to respect that. I tried to keep him marked and knocked down whenever I had the chance but as soon as I took my eye off him...

#4 Mr Murray – Dead (RIP)
#14 Philberto – Broken Ribs (MNG)
Well after a terrible 2 rounds in which the Woodies have seen their aspirations of winning the Double get shot to pieces, only 2 wins in their final matches will give them any hope.

This match had the potential of ending that dream very quickly. With only 11 fit Woodsmen up against a full roster of Lizards the Men of Wood were going to need to bring their A-game (something that had been missing lately)

A good start on defence saw the Woodies mangage to clear the pitch of Skinks and recover the ball deep in their own endzone. However Philberto was a little to impatiant and tried making a dash for it when Zathamell tripped him over, barged Smoker J, picked up the ball out and scored a TD before the WDDs could blink.

1-0 down and things went from bad to worse. A blitz by the Sotekians caught the Woodies off guard. They tried their best to regroup and the did manage to regather the ball but it was not to last. A saurus managed to knockover the carrier and the ball sailed straight into the arms of Mithollam. It was another great display of agility from the big boys and the end result was 2-0 to the bad with only a few minutes before half-time.

But offence is more the Woodies game. Smoker J linked up with Horse for a quick TD on the stroke of half time and then backed it up by setting up Toshiba just after the break. The scores were straight back to 2-2 in the blink of an eye (was this going to be a momentous comeback?)

With only 7 players up against 11, Raibow Warrior did some evening out he start laying in the boot on anything that fell over. He managed to kill Zathamell (one of the first half heroes) and also took out he monsterous N'aanachakrar before getting ejected from the game.

It still was not enough and Hazosca was about to give the Sotekians a crucial 3-2 lead when he was tripped over right at the Endzone by The Whoberry. Smoker J once again found Horse in some space but with time running out he was tackled to the ground by Udhachagnd. Horse managed to roll out of the way at the last moment and despite dropping the ball he managed to avoid any injury. Then in one fluid movement he got to his, scopped up the ball and scored the winning TD right on full time.

Another terrible first half was turned around by season saving effort in the second. But will it be enough as the WDDs need results to go there way to get the Tittle from here.

Twahnlows

3pts: Da-ubh - Was the only Saurus that had the skills to bring the Woodies to the ground. Caused a lot of problems.

2pts: Zathamell - Some amazing skills saw him score from an impossible position in the first half. Getst the nod ahead of Mithollam for making the sort of ultimate sacrifice an Elf can appreciate!

1pts: Mithollam - As above but with less ultimate sacrifice.

Cheers for the game Irgy that was a real up and down battle. Good in future seasons mate.
