“RRR round 2!
Our khemri face some chaos dwarves with a +agi bull centaur!
We start with a fine kick right into their endzone. The dwarves play a very defensive game, ganging up on my skeletons and getting a few injuries. They are pushing up slowly and we are trying madly to contain them (and more importantly, take a few out of the game!).
They slowly but surely push up one side and score with their star centaur in their final turn, though not before our mummies have badly hurt two chaos dwarf blockers- this could be key! We go for some more damage with a big gang foul on a knocked-over chaos dwarf in our 8th turn and the skeleton puts the boot in so hard the poor victim would have been killed if it weren't for his apothecary (who was seen getting his kitbag even as the ball was kicked off!). The ref has no hesitation sending off our poor (somewhat) innocent skeleton!
2nd half we receive with 10 vs 9 chaos dwarves. We'll need to cause some casualties here AND score. A touchback lets a mummy have the ball! Sweet! We push up but unfortunately a nice -2d block by a dwarf knocks him over a couple turns later and a crafy hobgoblin immediatly dodges, picks up the ball, dodges again and hands off to a waiting centaur! Crikey!
They are stuck in the back near their end zone with mummys leering at them (but not quite getting to them) and the dwarves are out of rerolls- can they hold off? The agi3 centaur makes his dodge with eases and runs to the other side- but then slips when he tries to sprint! He's stunned himself so we have a little bit of time to move over and see if we can get the ball - we move over a couple of skeletons and the so-far-unused thro-ra who fails his first pickup attempt. We're only going to have one turn left so the dwarves try to take out the thro-ra with a blitz, only knocking down both players. And on our turn we manage the pick-up and hand-off we need to score the equaliser in the last seconds of the game!!
** OVERTIME **
We have to kick (boo!) and set up our 9 vs 7 chaos dwarves, however we have 2 rerolls and they have none! A bad kick gives them a very timely touchback, but the dwarves decide to push backwards and play it safe. We push up with the mummies in a spread out line. The dwarves realise they have to move and blitz to one side, with 4 players and the ball by the LOS on the sideline. We push in (killing a hobgoblin) and tagging most of their players - but the ball-carrying bull centaur sprints up the side with the ball. We push in all around him, surrounding him to hopefully stop his attack- but it's not enough and he pushes with a 1d block, dodges (this is the agi 2 one) then goes for it to score the touchdown! The fans go wild at this display!
We are left with just 5 turns to pick up the ball (sometimes a challenge) and get upfield and score. The dwarves roll a 'bad kick' but it's anything but - right at the back corner square of the pitch! This slows us down by several turns and in the end we are forced to attempt a ludicrously difficult last-turn TD attempt that unfortunately doesn't do it!
Well done Gobogen and good luck in the rest of the tourney!”
