“SWL Season XXIII - Schiffer's Scissor Conference - Round 7

The dwarves had a lot of handicaps this match, and in addition had hired Grim Ironjaw for the match as well. Although the result was largely unimportant, we could hardly let them got off scott free after hiring a star. With Zara busy attending "other matters", we resorted to bringing in a shaman to help things out ...

The first half saw us draw part of the dwarf team out of position, allowing us to get a nice line in between our players and theirs, and also, to get Hed Splitta in position to thwart any attempted dodges. Unfortunately, we were too slow to take advantage of the situation, and with a couple of handy pows, the dwarves were off again. Down on numbers by this time, there was precious little we could do to prevent a touchdown, and the dwarves scored a touchdown in turn 7.

With two turns to retaliate, we needed quite a bit of luck to have a shot at a touchdown. The kickoff was Quick Snap, which was just enough. With our fair share of luck, we were able to get the ball to Hand Bitah. Thanks to her new found strength, she was able to blitz her way through for a touchdown right on the siren!

Half time score: 1-1

The second half was far more brutal than the first. The girls had dealt with the ref during the half time break, and with little fear of retaliation (due to the dwarves dirty player missing the match) we were able to put the boots to good use. With all their tackle and mighty blow, it really came down to luck as to who would remove the most players the quickest, thanks to the DPs, we were able to build a numerical advantage, but were eventually forced to score in turn 7.

With injury time as the kickoff roll for the final drive, it ended up coming down to a lightning bolt to save the day, and prevent the dwarves from a shot at an equaliser. Lucky for us, things went to plan, giving us a win in our final match of the season.

He just wouldn't fall down. ST4 tackle, mb blitzer is nasty enough, but try as we might, we couldn't bring him to the ground. He also played a key role in the Dwarves toudhdown in the first half.

Two casualties from this troll slayer was a big help all round for the dwarves. We failed to take him out of the match early on, and paid for it in blood. (Of course, we also made the dwarves pay with a little blood of their own after removing the referee from the equation).

For the touchdown of course. Hitting Amazons is well and good, but you do have to score touchdowns to win, and this guy got himself out of a very sticky situation in the first half for the touchdown.”
