The rats were battered about, but fought back against the black orcs with three-on-one gangups for blocks and fouls. The ref allowed both sides to foul with abandon. Scattered to the wind, the runners were able to tear the ball away from the orc thrower near their own end zone and take it back up the field to score, and finish the first half 1-0.

In the second, Snarrl was given the ball after a touchback and with a little help, burst through the line and ran deep. Nearly the entire team poured through the gap and surrounded him, and a blitz and a dodge later he was in for his first TD.

Kicking off again, the ratmen flowed like water around the rocks that were the orc line. Zeroing in on the hobgoblin ballcarrier, they once again set the ball loose and recovered, this time handing it to lineman Fetch. Tagged up by the troll and another orc, the gutters useless to assist, two linerats dodged away and Fetch blitzed his way to 3-0.

Back on the pitch, with time running out, the rats fled their oppressors, with both gutters and a lino going deep. A little hard legwork and Scuttle blitzed the thrower, snagged the ball, and scored his second with only moments to spare.”
