#11 Scar (South Pirate Clan) – Dead (RIP) #13 Kate (South Pirate Clan) – Smashed Knee (NI)
“First half:
We received the ball...but things went downhill quickly with 5 players gone in the first 4 turns and apoth used. The High Elves stole the ball (helped by their wizard) - even after heroic efforts that allowed us to retake the ball...too few players remained and the high elves took down our blodger catcher (3d block with RR by tackle player - not a surprise) and scored the go ahead TD for the 1-0 halftime lead.
Second half:
Down 1-0 and with the elves in possession of the ball after a bad kick...things were grim. However, spurred by the near impossible task, our players rose to the challenge, in the first 2-3 turns about 8 gfi were all successful as our slow footed players kept up with the quick elves. The result was we managed to block them from doing a sweep left...then repositioned to block them from switching sides and when a small game opened, a 2d blitz (after 2 gfi) knocked the ball free and it bounced to Fang (catcher)...helped by a double skull by the elves after they were out of RRs, we broke free and scored to tie it at 1-1.
Overtime:
After the amazing comeback...momentum was on our side and destiny it seemed as well, we won the coin flip and received. The elves were weary (and out of RRs - which made them cautious). We had an opening and had to use Asher (ST 6 ogre) to open the hole...2d block worked for a knockdown and the rest was Tooth - taking the handoff and doing a 1d blitz to push back an elf and racing in for the winnning TD.
Overall, a great game! Great fun!”
