“Semifinal of the RRR and it's undead vs undead. We only field 11 players, saving 30k for the final rather than getting a 12th zombie - hopefully we make it! They have 70k, enough for a pair of zombies or a 3rd ghoul but are so sure of the win they buy nothing and field 12.
They start their game by putting a LOS zombie in the BH box so we're going to be down to max 10 for the entire 16 turns :P
Some good crowd pushes removes a zombie and our tackling wight into the stun box as they were trying to force their way through on one side- we KO a zombie and wight in return, while they run in force up one side of the pitch. Our best efforts can only put a tackle zone on their ghoul who dodges and GFIs twice to score!
We have 3 turns to score and push up with everything we have, though a mummy with sprinting problems on turn 7 may make it impossible- and indeed some good pushing of my blodge ghoul with the ball means he's out of reach and the enemy undead surround any other players who might make it.. but that can't stop our wight Flon who dodges past a mummy (4+ then 3+) into the endzone where he catches the ghoul's handoff for the touchdown! [of note this used our mighty 4th RR, obviously a good one. see later in the report]
It's 1-1 and 9v9 for the second half with 2 enemy zombies in the KO box vs our tackle wight (will be sorely missed). We start off vs a perfect defence and they push in hard trying to get at the ball. It's pretty close and when we manage to get both-down even rerolled when we are freeing our ghoul with the other one it looks extra dodgy. But the very first move by the opposition gets them both-down rerolled with their mummy.. and he ends up in the BH box! They keep at it though but blodge is saving the day for the ball carrier with the enemy's lack of tackle. We need to blitz with a mummy to free him from the sideline and when he rolls skull and both-down we look at our final reroll with trepidation.. can we do it? If we fail this it's likely our ghoul will be flung into the crowd behind him and the game could turn on it. We use our reroll (it was saved til the end as it's our favorite, most mightiest reroll) and get the POW we wanted! A push would have been enough but this is even better as the wight is absolutely destroyed! Our jubilant coach rushes the pitch to raise him as a zombie!
It's pretty much curtains at this point with Dusko forced to make hair raising dodges to get near our blodging ball carrier while we burn the last few turns to ensure the win. In our 2nd last turn we go for a 2d block against the only ghoul who can easily reach him and can't knock him down- which lets them dodge a zombie away to lend the assist for a 2d blitz from that ghoul! Fortunately he can only get a both-down result that sees him flat on his face and our ghoul laughing! We push the zombie back with ease and run in the winning touchdown!
However Euroleague haven't forgotten their killed-and-raised wight .. indeed we remind them of him by propping him up in place on the line of scrimmage for turn 16. They vow revenge by blitzing down and then gang fouling one of our wights.. and it's a KILL plus a zombie for them!!
I thought it was funny but apparantly my humorless opponent thought it ridiculous that I won this game and spent the next 15 mins fuming in chat instead of ending his turn. Well.. onto the final!”
