“The Dark Elves were too tough for me. Even when they only had 3 players against my 10 they managed to score!
When I pushed his guy into the crowd I thought I was relatively safe on the side lines but he placed his guys perfectly as to have the chance to push him in. Great coaching on his part there, poor on mine as I should never assumed he would not find a way to do it.
I am very excited about my next 2 matches! First Dirty Middenheim Darlings (Amazons) and then Adora Fauces (Ogres).”
A cold chill descended as the Avengers of Nagarythe approached for their meeting with the Edge Mountain Miners. The Dorf hosts muttered something about untrustworthy practitioners of magic as they espied the icy blizzard engulfing the playing field but duly got on with the matter at hand (but not before a new entry was added to their book of grudges).
The ground was slippy underfoot, but the Dorfs appeared surefooted as Ihein Understar was killed by Emerald on a solo block in Turn 3.
Slayer Amber was unhappy at seeing a death that was not his own and performed an immediate crowdsurf resulting in stunned Uhosural Farjackal but leaving himself exposed. Rutik Deathpacer made him pay with a far more effective surf that put Amber out of the game with a smashed hand. Not the honourable death he was looking for, but he now carries permanent scarring (niggle) which is a step towards his goal.
In turn 6, after a brief skirmish, Mercury secured the ball and scored the opening TD for Edge Mountain.
With 3 turns left till half-time, Rutik Deathpacer carried the ball up the sidelines before a pass to Azerisur Vilestar, who then blitzed clear of Slayer Citrine for the T8 score.
HT: 1-1
-------
As they received the kickoff to start the 2nd half, the Avengers had almost as many elves in the dugout as on the field -- 2 CAS and 2 KOs mean they are heavily outnumbered for the rest of the (already bloody) match.
Another 3 Turns in and the KO count was now 4... The descendants of Nagarythe were hitting as hard as they could, but their much tougher opponents just wouldn't stay down.
As the count became 10 Dorfs v 5 Delfs, Ayrad Fallseer dropped deep into his own half to try to suck in the opponents. This was a partial success although those who couldn't free themselves were being pounded for their teammate's impudence.
In Turn 13 Rutik Deathpacer made a break for it as receiver and Ayrad passed him the ball, but the Dorfs were still in range and had the field covered. Rutik is stunned into submission by Mercury. Ayrad then becomes the 4th CAS with another crowdsurf in Turn 15, with Mercury picking up the ball and running. The draw looked secure, but then he attempted an ill-fated pass attempt to Diamond, which looked to be a no-risk shot at a potential winning score. It was not to be the case.
As T16 started, the 3 remaining elves --Uhosural, Rutik, and Azerisur-- were all on their backs staring at the stars (as the blizzard had now cleared and revealed a perfect clear starry night sky), and were covered by 1, 3 and 4 Dorfs respectively. Star Blitzer Azerisur Vilestar, scorer of the equalising TD decided enough was enough and chose to rest where he was, content with his contribution. Rutik and Uhosural were not so despondent...
Rutik Deathpacer rose to his feet and made a double dodge through traffic, and an extra effort (2xGFI) to make it to the endzone, just in time to see his teammate display some equally heroic moves. Uhosural Farjackal stood up, made 3 dodges through traffic, picking up the ball in coverage on the way, then a quick sprint (GFI) to the centre of the field just left a long bomb from the edge of his own half to the waiting Rutik. Nuffle clearly enjoyed the effort shown and duly rewarded the pair with the winning TD. Farjackal was awarded the MVP purely for his never-say-die efforts in that final turn.
FT: 2-1

Well, this was certainly an interesting debut match for both teams. Funnyfingers played well and should prob even have won, but he found moving the ball was a harder challenge than pounding my elves, and ultimately could only manage one score. Realistically, I was happy just to be still looking at a draw given my high CAS rate, but realism had nothing to do with that last Turn. :D
I dedicate this victory to the memory of Ihein Understar :P”
