“Necrosis' Rookie Tourney marches on vs Wackogenius' Vampires - can we rack up a much-needed victory?
We push forward into a standstill of punching within the first couple of turns, both teams trying to outblock the other. Our golem ends up in the BH box and one of their vamps is seriously injured by turn 4. The vamps have also used up all their rerolls so here's hoping for some self-inflicted injuries!
However it's excellent defending from them and when they BH our ghoul we're left with just the rookie werewolf trying to score. He grabs the ball and is bowled over by blitzing vampires twice in a row and it's enough for the vampires to go to half time with the score 0-0. However we've the numbers advantage with them setting up just one vamp + 8 thralls - lets hope we can wring it to our advantage.
We roll up a blitz and burst through with our wolf and a few zombies- managing to grab the ball before the thralls. We form a loose screen but it's nothing for their vamp to nip through and take down our wolf- a single thrall dodges away and fouls him into the KO box! Their vampire grabs the ball and retreats back to is own endzone.. he looks up to see a shambling horde of zombies coming towards him! The thralls are leaving the field in droves and soon he's only left with 2 of them plus him- but he has the ball .. will we able to get it from him? And then can we even pick it up!?
He dodges away and seeing no chance to score throws the ball downfield to where it's going to be very difficult for our zombies to reach. We try our best, managing to pick it up twice (after tripping on a GFI) and on our last turn manage to throw an on target short pass to our waiting flesh golem.. who drops the catch!
Great game Wackogenius and extremely well defended with so few players :)”
