“First match for Norn Iron, and what a skinning! 9 players on the field for most of the game, and some bad luck - but there's no accountin for the 3 opposition touchdowns and overwhelming possession. So, well, the lads fluffed it, failin to bring home even a skink scalp.
Still, on the plus side, no one died.
We had the chance to get a quick word with Norn Iron Man of the Match Norm Whitsidsson: "Well of course it's great to be recognised for my contribution, and I think I certainly left a nasty stain on that saurus' fist with my face."”
“This game was the debut for both teams in the WIL.
The game started out well for the dwarves, scoring an early KO and moving the ball upfield. As the half progressed luck slowly went against them until the left an opening in their cage. A saurus was able to knock the ball free, and a turn later a skink grabbed the ball and ran towards the endzone. We were able to set up a screen and stall out the half for a 1-0 lead.
By the start of the second half things were looking good for us, we had a lead, were receiving the ball and the dwarves were down to 9 players. A Blitz! gave the dwarves a glimmer of hope, but more bad rolling ruined it for them. Instead we were able to roll along to a turn 6 score and a 2-0 lead.
The 3rd TD was pretty lucky. We got a Blitz! and surrounded the ball. The ball somehow bounced out of bounds, but the dwarves were not able to take advantage and had a whole in their cage. Once again we were able to know the ball free, and a difficult pick-up left us in position to go up 3-0.
Good game Angkor and good luck the rest of the season.”
