Under fine, clear blue skies, a crowd of 76 000 screaming Blood Bowl fans tunred out to see this tight and competitive contest between two vastly different but equally matched teams.

After a touchback on the kickoff, the Uaxactun (pronounced Wa-SHAK-toon) Jaguars conducted an excellent drive which concluded with Yax K'uk Mo, escorted by a bevy of teammates, strolling across the line.

Gutter Runner Kwikuk, injured by Yax Moch Xok, and U Cit Tok were both lost for the game on this drive, removing one of the most dangerous Skaven attacking weapons.

The Skaven struck back immediately, with Gutter Runner Kirkirk blazing down the right wing, only to be pushed into the crowd and badly hurt by a fine touchdown-saving block by Popol K'inich. Not to be denied however, the sole remaining Gutter Runner, Kurtik, collected the loose ball and handed it off for Storm Vermin Kartok to bulldoze his way through a despairing tackle and into the end zone on the stroke of half time.

The second half saw the Skaven receive the ball and despite the Jaguars penetrating deep into Clan Skitter territory, Thrower Korak calmly collected the ball and passed it to Kurtik, who shimmied his way downfield past two Uaxactun players. The cover defence appeared to have him well covered but some excellent assists from his teammates saw him dodge across in the corner.

From the ensuing kickoff the Lizardmen resumed their tactic of turning the opponents into something resembling Rat-au-Van as quickly as possible. Lineman Ko was injured by K'an Chitam but good work by the Skaven medical team kept him on the pitch. Despite this the numerical and physical superiority of the Jaguars was beginning to tell, as Nun Yax Ayin forced Korak out of the game permanently. Despite knocking out several Skinks, the Skaven were unable to make much impression on the bigger Saurus and K'an Chitam crossed the line unopposed.

Kurtik made one last attempt to score down his favoured right flank but a desperate scramble defence saw him stumble and drop the ball, bringing an end to a hard fought draw.

The official MVPs were Keagan and Butz Chan, however popular opinion suggested that Kurtik, who single-handedly kept his team in the game despite being the sole surviving receiving threat, and K'an Chitam, who scored the equalising touchdown and was a workhorse in both attack and defence, should have been given the awards.

Player of the Game: K'an Chitam
