“Due to a nasty bout of illness, the Champions of Faydark started the game with only five players. Despite their overwhelming numerical advantage the Gutrippers soon lost the ball to a superb blitz by Wardancer Reed. With the Elves looking to counter-attack and the lightning fast Reed alone in the Orc backfield, a touchdown looked a foregone conclusion when Catcher Jerry attempted to pass the ball. He reckoned without Gorblad "Spring Heel" Norseslayer who athletically leaped into the air and caught the interception with the very tips of his fingers. Escorted by a phalanx of his teammates he then cruised across the line to celebrate his second touchdown in three matches.
The ensuing kickoff was perfectly positioned by Scumgut, the Gutrippers' trainee kicker, and even though Jerry recovered the ball he was isolated far from his teammates. While the rest of the team occupied the few remaining Elves, with Skullcracker impressively eliminating the dangerous Reed, the Blitzers set off in pursuit of the ballcarrier. While Jerry avoided them as best he could the Orcs scented blood and closed in mercilessly. Eventually Grimtoof flattened the catcher and Kargad collected the loose ball to score.
The second half started with the Gutrippers kicking and another perfectly positioned kick from Scumgut combined with a fumble from Lineman Phil saw Scargul collect the ball. Remarkable agility from the Champions saw them get the ball back, only for them to lose it again when Gorblad crushed Jerry. Luckily for the the ball took a favourable bounce back onto the field and after a series of mistakes from both sides, including two failures to pick the ball up cleanly and a fumble while passing from Chukkit alone, Jerry coolly collected the ball despite the attentions of two defenders and accelerated into the end zone for a well deserved score.
With little time left on the clock the game ended with a familiar sight - Chukkit bodging an attempt to pick up a stationary ball.
Despite the fact that the Champions were well understrength, the Gutrippers will be pleased with their first half display, although Chukkit better imporve if he wants to avoid a serious 'accident' on the training pitch.
Player of the Game: Gorblad, for proving to those pansy Elves that proper Blood Bowl players can make interceptions too.”
