After three long season’s of battling hordes of Undead, mean Greenskins and tough Dwarves, Real were looking forward to the prospect of facing something a little more squishy – and it came in the guise of Oval Balls FTW.

Since the turning of the new season reports had been coming out of the Oval camp on how bad a shape the team was in, and the Real boss fell for it hook, line and sinker, opting to save their cash rather than spend it.

Real elected to receive in the rain and setup to deliver some early damage, but some perfect defending by Oval aimed to scupper that... Real still mowed down the LOS but despite a Juanito foul they failed to remove any players.

The elves were quick to put pressure on the ball carrier and managed to cover the field well enough to prevent the ball carrier getting any great level of protection. The ball was soon stripped from David Vaughn’s hands and landed amidst a mass of bodies… Oval had decided to make a scrum of the first half… a strategy that Real were happy to partake in.

The elves were much tougher than they looked though, and soon removed two of Real’s zombies and rookie Mummy Claudio, who regenerated, whilst all that Real could succeed in doing was passing about a Side Stepping Elf! Things were looking very bad.

Some very fortunate bounces as bodies landed on the ball finally gave Real a break, and they took it, once again relying on the talents of Team Captain Karla Larburu. Elf Blitzer, Cheating, ran in with a block on Karla, but Karla quickly put the blitzer down and seriously injured him, the Oval coach wasted no time to send the doc in.
Karla made a dash towards the endzone whilst the Wights and zombies tried to cut off any path to him. As an Elf failed to leave his marker, Karla then skipped in for the score to make it 1 – 0.

Oval got right down to business in the second half, making a determined and quick elven TD in very short time… the elves were obviously confident in being able to take the ball from Real.

1 – 1

Real lined up at the LOS once again, this time determined to not make the same mistakes as the first half, and ensure a cage was on hand for the ball carrier. This they did, but it did not stop Oval’s Cheating from dodging right in and sacking the hapless David Vaughn, who wasn’t having a good day, and then catch the bounce! Oval’s coach could be heard from the dugout cheering his decision to send the doc in in the first half.

Real managed to get an assisted Tackler on the task of blitzing Cheating, but even with two bites at the Elf he wouldn’t go down, but Real’s hopes did!

The elves began to stall the half out whilst Real hit and kicked what they could in an effort to persuade them to score, and they did eventually just that, leaving Real little time to equalise.

A coaching mishap occurred and the clock was read incorrectly, leaving Real a mountain to climb in order to tie, and alas it was not to be.

After three long seasons of battling hordes of Undead, mean Greenskins and tough Dwarves, Real can now say they prefer it that way.

We’re sending the coach back to school to learn to tell the time.

GG Purp.
I think I needed to reduce your numbers early to be in with a shot, sadly that didn’t happen and your elves were free to roam the field as they pleased.
Cheating is aptly named, dodging into 2 TZs, 1d POW and picking the ball up in 2 TZs and the rain, he surely must have been. :P

Your team is not in bad shape! And all that said, the best coach won on the day. ;)
