“The first half was a competitive but standard affair as we went in 1-a-piece at the break. It was the second half that had the fireworks as the Dour Wee Gadges team tore into mine and took out 3 players in the first turn alone. Increasingly short on players, this looked like a definite loss but actually I could have won this game as KenThis threw tactics out the window to chase gang fouls in the second half. His players, distracted, failed to take care of the ball and twice I got it off them. The first time, a throw, and an interception by the damn troll. (I blame this on the client, which did not show the troll as an intercepting player - well, it probably did, but the troll image is so big that the intercepting player highlight is obscured.) That would have seen my beastman run free with 2 GFIs putting him out of reach of anybody, and a few players to secure the dwarves who were surrounding a stunned warrior. However, interception... foul... dead warrior. Then I lost my cool, as did my players who rolled not much more than 1s after this. KenThis still should have won, but he concentrated on keeping players available for the gangfoul, I blitzed his unprotected troll, stole the ball and launched it upfield. Again I still think KenThis should have won it. Again he went for the gangfoul - supposed retribution for me making it non-trivial for him to win - and this gave me an opportunity to close down the few players chasing the ball. In the end it was irrelevant as I rolled more 1s, turned over quickly, and he managed to grab the ball with his boneheaded bull (who never failed a bonehead roll all match) and slip it to his ag4 hobgoblin. Fortunately KenThis still was playing a tactical nightmare, attempted to throw even though he had a turn to spare and could have scored with the ag4 hobgolin, and failed the catch and subsequent pickup with an ag3 hobgoblin, and had to make do with a draw out of what was a sure-win situation.

The mini-nuffling (troll interceptions, multiple fouls with no sending off, and even when his DP got sent off, the argue the ref call succeeded, and a whole lot of 1s in the second half) got to me, I got heated, for which I apologise. However if he played much more positive tactics, I would not have been as annoyed as I was.”
