#9 Loquin – Dead (RIP)
Recrudescence of Vanyar 2 – 0 Hobbiton Heros
Dear Vanyar,

Although the team’s spirits had been broken after facing the Stewards, I knew the news that we travelled to the Shire in the morn to face the Hobbiton Heros would raise morale… and it did.

The team rested well in camp knowing that there would at least be no repeat of sore bones, banged heads and bruised egos… or so they thought.

The Hobbits greeted us with a sumptuous banquet, prepared by the head chef, before the game. This however left us bloated and lethargic, but eager to proceed. We elected to receive first. The plan was to avoid the Ents, hit the little guys and score as much as possible. The first two proceeded according to plan as we navigated down field setting up a cage, however, it was the latter we failed at – in tossing a simple pass, our stomachs weighing heavy upon us.

The Hobbits spared no time in moving in on the ball; the more agile of their numbers scooping it up from under our very noses only to then trip as he ran for cover of the Ents! Having previously tied the Hobbits up we then proceeded to use our superior size and send one after another into unconsciousness, reducing their numbers greatly. As the ball was precariously perched near Merry and an Ent, Traki charged Merry onto the ball, only to watch in dismay as the great Ent then caught the bounce, scooping and cradling it on high into its branches!

The Hobbits were suddenly inspired! They manoeuvred to support their Ent, hacking down our brave warriors as they went, targeting our foul specialist and quickly sending both to the surgery! We pulled the force back, arranging our party for a concerted effort at the Ent as yet more Hobbits were sent off the field by either us or the referee. One huge effort and the Ent was toppled, the ball bouncing neatly into our hands. With naught but two Ents and two Hobbits all they could do was watch as we ran the ball in for the score!

1 – 0

The Hobbits concluded the half by sending another of our number to the Apothecary’s surgery.

Eight versus nine and a great kick that left the ball on the half way line. The Hobbits scurried over to protect it whilst the Ents worked the LOS, their foul freely midget sending another to the surgery, and evening the numbers. We retaliated, injuring one of theirs. The Hobbits took the ball but fell, spilling it by their Ent. We worked the ball free and made a break, leaving the Hobbits eating dust. Soon we were down to six men, then five, these Hobbits were not as gentle as they first appeared… despite this we hung on, keen to show our new recruits how to score, and limit our spiralling casualties.

The Hobbits however gave chase, hitting our Great Warrior, Karim several times, but failing to topple the seeming Giant. Karim handed off to the surviving new recruit, and a lone, defiant, Hobbit sneaked through and toppled him - Karim on hand to catch the bounce. Alas, their brave efforts came to nothing, and the new recruit made the score on his second attempt.

2 – 0

The gutsy little Hobbits climbed the limbs of an Ent in the final seconds, hoping to be hurled down field… but as in all previous attempts, the Ent hurled him to the floor.

A glorious day, but another bruising one.

Regards,
Tarius
P.S. - I ask that you please send us some hardier new recruits that way we won’t keep RSVPing with corpses.

This was a much tougher game than I anticipated from flings; Eisen is obviously handy with them. Relatively speaking we were very look that the majority of CAS were BH else we’d be in terrible shape right now.
I screwed up at the beginning chasing SPPs on the rookies by making too many rolls without the RR cover. When the Tree got the ball I thought the chance of scoring may be over, but luckily every block we made on a fling seemed to send it to the KO box.
Although Eisen made a fair few CAS in contrast his ball handling and TTM was abysmal, not sure if he succeeded in doing anything bar injure his own guys.

Very enjoyable game, and Eisen kindly stepped in when another Oppo no showed on, thanks mate - GG! :)
