“I feel a need to add a bit of match report. After this was probably my first SMACK final (My orcs may or may not have been in a final but I think they only ever reached the semis).
It was a good game. Or good in the sense that I always thought I had a chance. I was lucky and I was careless. Basically the two evened out and I didn't fail anything major in the game. (apart from the last turn GFI, where I would probably have failed a throw anyway. The odds weren't exactly on my side.)
I'd have to say that my opponent didn't fail anything major either. Alright, he failed a 2d block with reroll against my ballcarrier. I guess that's major enough.
On the whole I did mostly better than my opponent dice-wise, but I'd say it was pretty equal.
What decided the game in the end wasn't any of these things. The real reason I lost was just because I played a better opponent. It's the only way I can see it. Sure we both did dumb things from time to time but I did the more dumb things.
But damnit if I wasn't close. So very close to my first SMACK victory. I guess I'll just try again eventually. And try again. And try again. Eventually I'll get there. Hopefully before the team reaches 200 games.”
The three events that decided the game were, the failed 4 dice at the ball that allowed you to score, my successful response before halftime which was low % after the blitz! (and I think you could have stripballed when you hit him), and maybe a bit of an over commitment on your part for the winner.
Anyway, such small margins win and lose games. I think you're not far away from that SMACK victory, you were certianly in this up until T16. :) Perhaps a bit less of an advance in the second half, and you may have had me today. Don't be too down hearted, I had to work damned hard, and you coached a fine game.
GL, and thanks for a fun game. ”
