Timisoara Dragons 1 – 2 Real Sociedead

There was a pivotal point in my career, well two actually – the crossroads of life and death was a biggy, but that’s a story for another time. My Mummy said, “Do you want to coach BLOOD Bowl or sissy, boring, girl sport, nobody watches-rugby where you may have to shove your head in between two men’s bottoms and groan!”

I chose Blood Bowl, although I feel I was pushed in that direction.

Our game against the Timisoara Dragons was billed as a sure win for us, and so we inevitably considered them to be little threat in our fight against relegation… indeed, in actuality they weren’t, what they were however was instrumental in our relegation this season.

A virus plagued the Dragons from the get go, the ailing thralls keeling over before the first blow was thrown. The Vampires elected to receive and made a very bold drive with their star player who fell trying to go that extra yard.

Ion Txoperna Garcia was quickly on the case, sending the count to the KO box. The Thralls however did a very good job of holding their own, despite being matched in strength, still managing to topple our zombies as the remaining Vampire drew close.

Our Mummies closed in, keen to stop the Thralls from overpowering the struggling zombies… then disaster. A bold Thrall dodged from his marker to blitz our “star” Mummy, the highly decorated Enaut Zubikarai Goni, assisted by just two other Thralls they put him to ground as their hired boot ran in and pounded his head to dust!!!

The Real fans fell silent as those in the Dragons half roared with delight! The Thrall, Iancu Ghezzo, then blitzed promising Wight, Leadalis Ramoura, shattering his hand!!! Retiring him right there.

The Vampire through a pass to their least agile Thrall, and the impaired Thrall sped away wards the endzone, slipping by Karla Laburu’s tackle to score.

0 - 1

In moments everything had just gone horribly wrong.

Real shook away the shock and returned to the field. Some Ghoulish passing and some thrall hammering managed to even the score at the end of the half.

By the time of the second half the battered Thralls and Count Wallenstein barely numbered a team, but with the happenings of the first half and with the dangerous Wallenstein and Iancu on the field, boot studs had been sharpened and the orders clear.

Iancu Ghezzo was a marked man, and he knew it, keeping to his hit and run tactics Real weren’t able to get a hold of his scrawny neck his protective team mates did suffer for him though: In minutes only Thralls remained and their numbers were few. Real took the opportunity to provide some much needed experience to star Zombie, Fredrik Olsson, and show him how to score, whilst the remainder of Real herded up the few remaining Thralls, however, no longer kicking them, knowing that the Dragon’s success was now synonymous to their own!

The final result was a comfortable, but costly 2 – 1.

GG CB.

As Robbo44 put it: I’m going through Mummies like they were Zombies… it’s a long time since we passed a regen roll, and it’s starting to show again.

The cash I saved to hire the Count against Gritter’s formidable Khemri has been blown on another ST5 turnover machine and goodness knows what state we’ll be in after that one – ho-hum.

This TR146 premiership team no longer wishes to hear about struggling elves, thank you. :P
