To be honest I thought I'd struggle in this round as I didn't make money in the last one (coin toss, so nobody 'won' the match).
I was down 15TR/13TS and my opponent hired Lord Borak to counter my mummies. I won the toss and while replying to a chat message accidently hit yes to receive. I was going to kick, but it proved a better decision than I thought!
The first 3dice block by a mummy results in a badly hurt beastman and the Trapdoor drive went from there. I fouled the troll for a badly hurt, which regen'd, and things were looking pretty good. After removing a chaos warrior and another beastman into the KO box the undead were firmly in control and camping towards the chaos endzone.
I did leave the ball carrier open to a 2d blitz though, thinking that he would be unable to make the pow, but he did. I was able to recover though and help the claw wielding beastman into the crowd, who tore him a new one. A weight of my mind.
Ging Gang was eventually pushed into the endzone by a rerolled block in my turn 7, leaving the chaos plenty of time to equalise. They didn't manage it though as StanRichardson attempted to skill up a beastman on 15 SPPs and I went into the second half unscathed after making my regens.
Second half and Rancors Raiders went for a drive up the top of the pitch. I was able to block them off with a mummy while at the same time badly hurting another chaos player. StanRichardson had used the apo in the first half from a failed GFI.
Things got a bit congested and I was left an opening for my mummy to blitz the ball carrier, which he did and KOd the beastman. The ball was then loose surrounded by chaos players, and I was starting to lose bodies with a total of five casualties against me. Fortunately I made most of the regens, apart from the one I really wanted to as Lord Borak killed Block, Guard mummy Urk. Ouch.
It didn't stop the Trapdoor players springing the ball though and moving clear and the chaos were forced to resort to fouling to speed me up. I didn't bite and sealed the 2-0 in the final turn.
Good game StanRichardson, and I got plenty of winnings to decide whether to replace the mummy or enlist the count. Next up is the winner of an orc/skaven contest in the semi final.”
