“An incredible opening to the summer slam! The gainsayers who said the games would be dull due to the fielding of lumbering tackling machines of the dwarves and norsemen never reckoned with the fast moving elegant and fluent style of the Rusland Rats.
Dwain popped up all over the field making run after run. He scored a world class hattrick and showed his agility by not once being hit by the norsemen. He literally made mincemeat of the meatballs! In fact he narrowly missed out on an incredible fourth touchdown fumbling a pick up with the line at his mercy on the last play.
Unbelievable that the norsemen ever turned up to play in a Summer Slam! What on earth(?) did they think the weather was going to be like? No brass monkeys round here. Mind you they were a tad unlucky when the weather turned early in the game and we had a heatwave which the norsemen simply couldn't live with. At one point three or four of their players refused to take to the pitch claiming heat exhaustion. They did try and find shade but never managed to catch up with the shadows they spent the whole match chasing.
Coach Meady did his best with what he had but when it got tough his players simply didn't get going.”
