“Well, the boys in the big hats came and played a bit of the 'Mangled Elf Blues' for the Ulthuans. First Bull Centaur John Lee Hooker showed why he's 'Bad Like Jesse James', killing Catcher Lenwë on a both down block (re-rolled from a double skull) while we tried to score in the first half. Then Chaos Dwarf Blocker Muddy Waters left the Wannabes 'Standing Around Crying' as he killed Lineelf Sáralondë stopping the Elves first attempt at scoring. Finally, Blocker Robert Johnson completed the trifecta, chasing down Lineelf Earwen like a 'Hell Hound on his Trail' and sending him out of this game and the next.
Unfortunately the ball handling part of my game wasn't nearly as successful as the bashing part. Trying to crowd him out, I got myself jammed up in the widezone and ended up with a CD crowdsurfing; combined with very effective cage-slowing tactics, I failed to score in the first half. The second half we had numerical superiority, always a tenuous thing against Elves, and managed to take the ball away, with a Bull Centaur (B.B. King) no less, but instead of stalling I opted to protect my players (read Hobgobs) and score quickly in order to regroup. The result: a really nice Elfy play that tied the game in the last minutes -- you really should watch it.
My opponent was struggling the entire game, not only against stubby dwarves and brawny bull centaurs but against his own dice; I hate to think how the game might have turned out if Nuffle'd been more equitable. Better luck next game (though with 3 players missing, 2 for good, and 40k winnings that seems unlikely....) and welcome to the NWL Father_Gailus!”
