The first half started off with a completely succesful attack with no lost men...Unfortunately I was mesmerized and completely astounded by this event that I made grievous tactical errors both during the offense and conversly the defence. Which lead to a too easy tie game - Of course, the 3 stuns he got right from the get go made it easier....
I was even more surprised by the fact that I got full crew for the 2nd half also but again made grievous errors as it has been a while since I last had a full squad to move around: There were simply too many moving parts on my defence for the poor befuddled norse to make anything rational out of it.
Luckily, towards the end the pitch started to clear up and I was able to create more coherent resistance...though then again, with player shortage it's never easy to stop the opponent.
The very ending was another Golden DoB moment, first I misclicked blitz instead of block with a jump up player, some kind of brain malfunction - must be the beer fumes coming from the team - because I specifically noted 'click block' before moving the player. I was surprised when my player continued its move after a succesful block. Then I managed unlikely dodges to pressure the ball carrier WITHOUT block, boy did I cry for the lost blitz right then (the answer is no: Norse don't cry) :D Then, when all hope seemed lost I got Injury Time from the last kickoff and was off to a good offense and was a dodge (with a dodger), hand off to AG4 player and a GFI away from scoring a goal...EXCEPT for the 2DB blitz that ended in double skulls. Though, I was sort of relieved I didn't have to fail the GFI after all. :-)
Overall the game was a stunning success, with DoB taking home all their players and 90k cash. Too bad some of the fans quit the stands as they didn't see enough home team blood on the pitch.
In the end, grats for the opponent for he played better today on the pitch in a game that was pretty even and with better coaching, who knows, maybe even the norse might've walked away as victors.”
