“A disappointing game for the unconventional conventioneers, in which the coach and then Nuffle robbed them of a chance at a tie (or the bonehead coach robbed them of a tie and Nuffle robbed them of a win, however you want to look at it....).
In the first half, Ghoul Richard Nixon was within scoring distance of the endzone and in better position then he had been a few moves earlier due to a pushback block that knocked him away from a trio of Gutterrunners that had been guarding him. Only a pushback blitz on a Gutterrunner stood between the Ghoul and the endzone when, trying to keep the other rats from assisting if the blitz failed, zombie Brad Majors ("Geek!") broke away from a tacklezone which I'd overlooked and, being a zombie, fell down leaving the team wishing they could do the Time Warp again.
In the last minutes of the second half, Richard Nixon twice failed to pick up the ball, in an open field with nice weather, (actually, Tricky Dick was involved in a lot of the team's bad luck now that I think about it -- teach me to name a player after Nixon....) allowing the rats to position themselves and throw a tackle zone on Werewolf Riff Raff (who was waiting near the endzone) and intercept when Nixon finally managed, in turn 8, to scoop up the ball and lob it to our faithful handyman, ripping off our rose-tinted glasses and exposing us to a world of trouble and pain.
On the plus side, Riff Raff proved especially effective at taking out Gutter Runners, slicing through their armor like it wasn't even there and sending one to the BH box and one to the SI, and Dr. F managed an interception in the first half which set us up for our only TD.
Kudos to patton on a well coached game that didn't allow me to get away with any mistakes despite being outmanned (apparently Bunnypuncher got to him before I did) and hope to see you in the WWB (where my Grudgebearers can take care of those Gutterrunners for you....)”
