#2 Tyge – Dead (RIP)
Rise of Akallabeth 1 - 2 Woodmen of Druadan Forest
http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=match&op=report&id=2243187

After a long 12 hour working day, hunting in the forest, the woodmen returned to camp to find their next opponents there. They'd spotted us while out on a scouting mission of their own and wondered if we'd care to tussle. Having already missed a game due to their busy schedule of work and partying, the woodmen couldn't afford to say no to this fortuitous opportunity.

So in the wee small hours of wednesday the game got under way. Having been pwned 4-0 the first time they played RoA and then counter pwning them 4-0 the second, the chance of a revenge beating seemed likely against the daunting RoA lineup. Some good news came from the realisation that the RoA ST4 lino was missing the game and that 2 handicaps were coming the way of the woodmen.

The palmed coin allowed the woodmen to start with the ball and they managed to get a fairly easy score in turn 3, having wrong-footed most of the RoA team, with the thrower Asger running in the opener.

Now came the tough bit. The only strategy for the woodmen was to D up and see what happened. At first it looked bad for them with the line crumbling under the weight of a heavy blockfest, but soon their efforts seemed to be paying off..... a bit. Momentum slowed for the offence and but for a couple of KO's and an SI, the score before half time looked less and less certain. A chain push onto the ball carrier for an assist left the woodmen needing a dodge and blitz to dislodge the ball in the last turn. Unfortunately the dodge failed on reroll and it was an easy task for RoA to break their man free for the tying score. Handily though, in the melee the woodmen managed to SI Bâr-Imrazôr, the other ST4 RoA player.

The tactics remained the same in the second half, for the woodmen, D up and have at it. It was a bit of a brawl, which RoA seemed to be winning and despite some slow going, the RoA strategy was clear. Wait out any resistance and win it at the end. After a kill on the woodmen's best blitzer, a BH too and a KO for them it was 9 vs 10. The woodmen did manage to get a guy next to the ball, with a chain push, though. With few options available they decide to take a chance of a 2 dice block against on the ball carrier, considering they still had rerolls to burn and one left for that turn. Low and behold, double pow on the dodgeless thrower. The RoA plan had seemed a good, prudent one until their Ogre double skulled the first block of the next turn and then it all changed. All the woodmen were standing now, half of the RoA players got downed and a potential crack appeared through the wall of men. With a handy pow blitz on an awkwardly positioned catcher, the AG4 woodmen blitzer Valentin went on to pick up the ball in a tackle zone, dodge away and sprint twice to go clear. The rest as they say is history. Valentin took the ball into the empty RoA half, with support from another noob 5spp blitzer. The last turn was just a choice of score with the experienced man, or risk not winning by handing off for a skill too. They chose the latter and it worked without need for a reroll. Jammy? Yes. Just and deserved? Probably not. Pleasing? Most Definitely. :)

As with the last game between these sides, the key rolls went to the woodmen. But it wasn't without it's price. They took a beating for their gritty defending. One which may see things get worse before they get better. Unlucky Borup and thanks for a fun, tough, brutal (in many ways) game.
