“Oberlanders have been hurt recently so was hoping for a non-bashy game to give them a chance to recover. However, Black Glove was not accomodating, blocking as much as any team I've played so far.
I scored on Turn 2 in the opening drive - not sure if that was part of Black Glove's strategy, but the TD shot was there, so I took it.
I was able to take the ball away on defense in Turn 7, with a real nail biting finish to the 1st half. I failed the scoring handoff on my turn 8, and Black Glove recovered the ball, ran it, handed it off, passed it, and ran all the way to my end zone only to fail their GFI roll. I should have put a precautionary TZ on the ball, also might have done better to run the ball up on turn 7 (blitzing with the ball carrier to open his own path).
Black Glove again surprised me in the 2nd half, this time by stalling after his TD was assured. Rather than chase the ball, I decided to bash his team, figuring to intimidate the AV7 Elves into scoring. However, Black Glove's detachment of 3-4 elves gave very good account of themselves in the blockfest. They were not intimidated by the protracted blocking war, and the game ended inconclusively.
Fortunately, Oberlanders come out of the match with no injuries, and now have a 12th healthy player for the first time in a while! ”
