The Chargers are poised to start the game, after winning the toss, they surely believe that the Chaos Gods are watching over them. As the Head Collectors send the ball sailing into the air, the crowd charges the field and leaves all but 4 of the Chargers standing. On their heels, the Chargers pull themselves together and try to give their teammates time to get back to their feet.
Once the majority of the team begins to recover their senses, Brood the minotaur, charges at the first orc in range. Unfortunately, they both tumble down in a heap (that would be the last we see of Brood for the game, he decided to stay in the ko box where it was safe). The Chargers continue on without their vicious pet and still appear to be able to score, even though the orcs are battering the dwarves about the pitch.
Seeing an opening to score, Lexem "The Lost", tries to elude an orc defender. Unfortunately, even with the God's favor, Lexem tumbles down... putting the ball in easy reach of the orcs. The Head Collectors, narrowly miss scoring a defensive touchdown as the half expires, dropping a short pass near the Charger's goal-line.
The second half begins with the orcs receiving the ball, while the Chargers are missing both Brood and Zendmakar. The dwarves attempt to put up a solid defense, but the orcs simply over-power them and eventually get a blitzer in range to score... with only two defenders to slip past. He stumbles at first but catches his balance and rumbles in, giving the Head Collectors a 1-0 lead.
The Chargers respond poorly to the challenge, Lexem spends half the remaining time bobbling the ball in the Chargers backfield. Eventually he manages to pick it up and rumbled down the field. Thinking that he won't make the remaining distance before time expires, he attempts to hand the ball to the more mobile Zendmakar, only to have it slip out of his grasp and land on the pitch. With one last chance to score and tie the match up, Zendmakar can't manage to pick up the ball as time runs out.
Where to begin... Pitch invasion to start, stunning the majority of my team. Failed at least 30% of my GFI rolls (being generous I think). Mino KO's himself on the second turn and never comes back. Failed "sure hands" pick-up attempts two turns in a row. Failed a 3+ dodge with reroll that would have given me the 1-0 lead (plus an additional KO roll for my mino). Rerolls went faster than tickets to the Dark Knight and rarely even changed the outcome of the roll. I did something risky (and a bit stupid in hindsight), trying to hand-off to my bull centaur which would have tied the game and sent it to OT. Although, it wouldn't have mattered I rolled a 1 (my other option was to GFI instead and that would have failed anyways). The very next turn I still have a slim chance to tie it, but I can't make the pick-up (5 failed pick-up rolls in the last 4 or 5 turns).
McVily on the other hand had pretty fair luck the majority of the match (he has some really crappy rolls the last 3 turns). Other than the failed catch before the half and the 3 turns to end the game, I don't believe he had a turn over. McVily played a good game overall, but there wasn't much I could do to stop him, rolling the way I did. Even when he started having bad luck, it was too little, too late. I believe the only thing I had any luck with was the INJ rolls, thankfully I only suffered stuns and KOs (although he did break my armor quite a bit).
“Tough game...after Collectors sneak in to playoffs winning against dwarfs...They got their chaotic brothers in QF....many Fans shown at stands, mostly orcs...which was shown by pitch invasion that stunned 6 CDC players...and that was the end of their plan of caging the ball....they actually managed to broke defence...but clumsiness of hobo that carried the ball cost them touchdown. Collectors almost managed to score in that last 2 turns, but blitzer didn't catch the ball....
2nd half, Orcs showed how it should be done...and scored in turn 4...2 failed pickups open possibility to even score another one...but 8 blocks with some sort of skull denied it...And so the best team in the regular season goes home (in fact to holes as they don't live in houses).
Cheers to wraith...he tried hard, overbashed, and overfouled me...but when he had to score, he made few wrong decisions that cost him in the end... Head up mate..that's BloodBowl”
