The inhabitants of the mountains mid-level came to the stadium in the anticipation of this rounds challenges. Both times, elves were daring enough to challenge undead teams and everyone was expecting broken bones and players switching sides, damned to play for the unholy necromancer until their bodies were finally destroyed for good.
Even though the elves looked stronger on paper, the bookies were betting against their promotion. The zombies of the 'Curious Incident' had just fought off the way faster woodies the round before - the same woodelves that had challenged and defeated 'Out of this dirt hole!' two round before. Add to this the fact, that the lineman 'It`s too hot!' had missed now 5 games in a row, still unable to play due to his grown-in toe nail and the 'The cells are too small!' occupied by a similar problem stemming from the lack of pedicure... bets were at 1.4:1 against them.

Yet the elves proved the bookies wrong from the start. Both nigglers showed up and performed their line duty as intended. But with the first kickoff, necro-fans swarmed the pitch, removing the ref from the equation. Facing a foul every turn, the elven coach had to rethink his tactics as he hadn`t fielded his dirty player to pay back the fouls in kind. The elven stall was thrown out and the elves went for the classic two turner, swarming one side of the pitch. But the necros reacted, swarming around (and over) the wide recievers. With the main attack choked, the elves opted for a quick swing to the opposing wide zone, leaving the slow deadies without a chance. Score in turn 3. Elves up 1-0 against recieving necros that still had the ref - but at least they still had all their players alive and kicking....
Kicking the ball to the necros that was. With the kickoff, the pitch illumination was turned up, blinding elves and zombies alike. This might have been the reason, why it took six blocks to down a single player, sparing the line to be fouled. A wight quickly recovered the ball. Facing five elves that had dodged around the line of zombies threatning to swarm the backfield, the necros quickly caged. With their blitz, the Dragonwarrior 'I have no servants!' knocked a zombie into the ball carrying wight, who stumbled outside of the cage next to a marking elven lineman. Quickly a guarding teammate dodged free and assisted him in blocking the ball free. With the ball free, the elves marked the ball, but a pickup attempt by 'No room service!' failed. Losing the ball woke up the necros, as they retaliated with a KO and an SI on 'I have no servants'. The apo quickly rushed in to patch up that grazed knee with a nice handpainted bandaid, enabeling him to play on. The elves quickly dispatched the two tacklezones on the ball with a chainpush and a blitz and 'Freedom!' scooped up the ball and brought it outside of blitzing range. Being a teamplayer and having killed a zombie (that broken nose was a carreer-ending injury for sure... how could that zombie ever play on the very next drive??) in that blitz as retaliation for the grazed knee he handed off the ball allowing 'It`s too cold!' to walk in the touchdown in the closing seconds. Elves 2 - Necro 0. One elf KO and the apo out of handpainted bandaids.
So far the 'foul them back with DP' tactics hadn`t payed off - there were simply only skillles zombies in fouling range all the time! Damn those teams with only 4 positionals..
Last kickoff first half just saw the necros KO another elf, the first KOed elf waking up and a wight to wight pass for training purposes. The elven coach noted - etheral vision doesn`t seem to be distracted by glaring light.

Second half - Necros recieving and the order of the elven coach: Play no contact!
Delay them, let them work for their touchdown so that it`s too late to score another one. The zombies, eager for a score promtly KOed a lino, successfully blocked the line away and forming a massive 9 player cage for the ballcarrying wight. Elves remembering their orders, just formed a line in front of the cage, which in response move to the upper wide zone in an attempt to force it`s way there. The elves maintained the line and dicided to move in toe to toe on turn 3. 'I said no contact!!' their coach was raving, but the elves were hungry for some more glory - and recieved another KO in turn, as the necros just formed a massive line to shield the pressured ball. Once again the elves showed some chainpusing, opening a 2-square hole in the wall of rotten bodies - one for the guarder 'They took my silken underwear!' and the other for 'No room service!' who blitzed through the hole, downed the wight and stole the ball before that ghostly creature even hit the ground. Quickly elves disengaged to shield their captain from any attacks. The necros realized, they had been beaten and now focussed on bostering their ranks with one of those tasty elven zombies but to no avail. The elves completly disengaged and just ran down the clock before 'I have no servants!' walked in the touchdown uncontested.

Final score: Elves 3 - Necros 0
All elves alive and in reasonable shape except for muddy trousers and some nasty and disgusting pus-stains on Freedom!`s shirt sleeve.
