First half, and I was kicking. what I can only describe as a moment of insanity must have taken me when setting up, as I experimented with a new set up. The Pow Cows were kind enough to show why I shouldn't use such a set up again.
The Pow Cows defended the ball very well, I was well marked up and usually out blocked with all those dam guard-hats! Despite trying my best I was never really able to get close to the ball and the Pow Cows mad it 1-0 in 4 turns.
My turn to receive and with 5 turns left to score in the first half I felt quit confident. Perfect defence set me back hugely. I tried to push down the right, then the left, then back to the right but couldn't find any gaps in the defence. finally a loose beastman made a last minute rush for the end zone, but the short pass failed and the first half whistle blew at 1-0.
2nd Half, me to receive again and much a similar story as the first half. I defended the ball relatively well (I was lucky that the one 2DB he made on my ball carrier failed). Reaching turn 6 and I was not much closer to the end zone, getting desperate again and feeling a little sorry for myself that I hadn't had any real opportunities to break through I pushed hard to drive forward, but despite using a RR I failed to knock over the Bull Centaur to ensure my ball carrier would remain safe.
Then it happened, my opportunity, the bull centaur not only failed to knock over my guarding player, he re-rolled and got the dreaded double skulls! I blessing, surely I couldn't mess this up? Actually I managed to to foolishly push the other bull centaur into a blitzing position of my lone runner and he did his job, KO'ing the ball carrier. Still, my follow up made a couple of lucky dodges and just managed to score in the last seconds of the game.
Really tough match and easily the closest this team has come to losing. so far.”
