“Kondor crossed the pitch and shook hands with Coach JohnGary. Both coaches were shaking their heads at how this one had turned out. It was a case of John being the superior coach, but Kondor's players executing better.

John had the ref in the first half, and Carvo did his job carving up opposing players Leaving six mimes on the field for the second half and ending a rookie line elf's career at one game. Without much opposition, Mellak went in for the easy score.

With the ensuing kickoff, Kondor was overwhelmed. The opposing elves swarmed in on the thrower Helewise. They had badly over committed, and after dodging their clutches, she completed a pass to Bernadette who made a mad dash toward the far endzone to even the score at the half. It did not seem the TD would matter at the time as Calaquende had the Mimes seriously out manned.

With six players on the field to start the second half, Calaquende swarmed in. The mimes were quickly on the back foot and surrounded. The attack was pressed, and the mimes seemed sure to cough up the ball on the next play. Instead, Clotilde took a desperation hand off in traffic, and lept beyond the pressuring elves. She outran her pursuers and scored the improbable go ahead TD.

With a quarter of the game left to go, and six Mimes on the field, Kondor hoped to slow the assault and stall out a draw after the kickoff. Just to make it interesting he called for a blitz, and Clotide made a mad dash for the ball. She could not quite get there but she did pressure the ball and force three elves back to defend her.

Coolly, Umbala made a throw to her catcher and things seemed to be running smoothly. That is where the magic began. Through the last four turns of the game, the Mimes did not fail a single dodge roll, and only the lone Dragon Warrior was a skilled dodger. After two dodges through traffic, Dominique made a one on one block to knock down the catcher. Then the few Mimes that remained hustled to apply the pressure.

The Calaquende players must have felt the pressure and their coaches rage as they began failing simple moves. A trip stunned the catcher. Next, the Dragon Warrior can't hold the ball. That is when Helewise made the second best best throw of her career. A lineman pushed the Dragon warrior aside. Another pushes his elf aside. At last, Helewise dodges from the elf marking her to pick up the ball and throw over three opposing players to a well defended Clotilde. The crowd stood stunned as Clotilde wrestled the ball from her defender and sprinted off towards the Mime endzone.

Nuffle be praised. He chose this as a day for the Mimes. There is no other explanation as Kondor was clearly out coached. As the day ended the Mimes had a winning record for the first time in their history.
