The chorus of boos from the 40miners fans at the final whistle was deafening after the conservative tactics employed by coach Rockie blew up in his face in spectacular style.
Things had began so well for the Miners, with the Revenge looking hesitant in the opening stages a few key mistakes allowed the Dwarven defense almost snuff out the Wood Elves scintillating attack. After recovering the ball the Miners ensuing drive to goal was thwarted and on the counter-attack Sitihis scored on the stroke of half-time.
The Miners opened their offensive drive solidly, convincingly blocking the Wood Elves into submission. However with the goal line at their mercy coach Rockie was seen in the dug out to be signaling to his team to play a ball control offense. It seemed as though the match was drifting to a draw with the clock running out of time and no Sithis player with a reasonable chance of striking the ball carrier, then disaster struck. A straightforward TD pass to Crag was fumbled by the bungling Runner Old, from the resultant loss of momentum the Revenge Lineman Senditu amazingly dodged through a scrum of Dwarven bodies to lay a crushing hit on the ball carrier Crag. With the final whistle about to blow there was a mad scramble by the Miners for the ball. The Slayer Lot came up with the ball but was merely inches from scoring when the final whistle blew.
The 40miners fans are used to better than this and the rumblings of discontent in the stands would have been all too audible for the coach to hear. with 7 games left in their season coach Rockie knows he must turn the results around immediately or his stay at Candlesmith Park may be a short one.”
