Started receiving and went for a fairly standard caged ball / stalling / probing attack. Shadow defended excellently and I made barely any progress, in addition his claws we doing a great job of KO'ing my players and my 8th turn required some lucky rolls and was a welcome relief from the continuous pressure.
The 2nd half wasn't so great for me, nothing quit worked how I wanted, all though all my needless silly dice rolls went great (GFI's and 1DB's in no so key areas). Regardless Shadow decided to go for a less than safe rushing TD in turn 3. Unfortunately my re-rolled blitz on the call carrier was unsuccessful but I was able to tie up his other players pretty well. I few failed blocks from Shadow forced him to make a 1DB with the ball carrier for a rushing TD.
With all my key KO's returning, the ball and 5 turns remaining I was confident I could get the 2-1 win. It was a deep kick and I was foolish enough not to send any players back to protect the receiver, but Shadows primarily slow team and deep defence ment that the opportunity went unpunished.
With the ball safely caged in my players nearing the half way line, 3 turns remaining, 3 RR's, a large spread of defenders and 2 players deep in case a throw or hand off was required I looked to be in a dominant position. Then disaster, my blitz to open a gap result in a double skull, a RR gave me a push and then a 3DB took the player down, but my following vital 2DB also resulted in a double skull and this time a turnover and a KO;d CW who should have been protecting my player. Shadow quickly responded blitzing (and KO'ing) the ball carrier, but unable to recover the ball. I then started my next turn with a further double skull (3 double skulls in 3 2DB's - my worst ever run). The ball scattered around for the last few turns where bath teams were but a few moves away from scoring, but neither could quit make it.
The final result of 1-1 does seem fair all in all.”
