“A game where I played incredibly stupidly in the first half - didn't put nearly enough support on my gutter runner rushing up the sidelines, and then when the inevitable happened (blitzed, ball bounced free, grabbed by a skink), all my players were either tied up or at completely the wrong end of the pitch as he created an excellent rolling cage. And then, to compound my error, deciding to try and batter the daylights out of a lone saurus was probably not the best tactic as he stalled just prior to my endzone. I should have forced a touchdown by pegging it over there as fast as possible.
The second half was another slog, this time kicking and finding it very hard to gain a purchase in his half. I played a much better defensive game this time, but he still managed to form some pretty good cages. However, I harried him all the way this time, and though when he did fall over it was a go for it roll to the end zone, I think I forced enough tackle zones on his cage that he had to push his luck as much as possible. From there I managed to do a quick bit of running and passing play to get a gutter run halfway up his wide zone, but even then he managed to catch up and chuck tackle zones all over him (damn those stunties!). With a blitz, a dodge roll, a hand-off, and a quick run over to the far corner of his half I just got enough distance to be able to score the next turn without interference, to just scrape a draw.
Certainly a learning experience, I've not had much against lizzies in the past, and I've been dreaming up rosters all day! A fun game, and a clever opponent.”
