“I basically got the plan for this game wrong. I assumed that, because Wood Elves are AV7 and High Elves are AV8, I'd be able to win a blocking game. However, the opposite happened. Because I started with 10 elves vs 11, my opponent was (with a fair helping of luck) able to out-block me, and when injury dice started going his way there was no avoiding a mammoth defeat.
I started out a man down. By the end of opponent T1, I was on 9 men (2 down) with a Badly Hurt from one of this first blocks of the game. On T2, a quick pass out of a pocket on a 4 went wrong and used the reroll; maybe I should have found another way around it but difficult since he had 2 elves over. My catcher also got BH (8 elves against 11). On T3 my 2d blitz on the ball carrier came up skulls and I started to think it wasn't my evening.
After that, with 8 vs 11, my attacks were always more in hope than expectation. I might have made his second TD much more difficult by moving a lineman from centrefield to where he was making a breakthrough. Only one dodge was needed but I overlooked it.
I started the 2nd half with 6 elves vs 11 (2 of mine BH and 2 KO's and staying out) and after that a thrashing was inevitable. Even so my players managed to produce a bit of a comedy of errors with little going right... ”
