“This was my first game in something like 14 months and it was also my 50th game on fumbbl so I thought I would commemorate the occasion with my first ever match report... Here goes...
The teams seemed pretty evenly matched, my storm vermin better, Coravs linerats better, the biggest difference in this game being not the teams but the results of the cas rolls.
The first few turns were pretty even, the rats were hitting the KO box pretty much 1 for 1, the mud and rain proving too much for my thrower - at least 3 turns for a sure hands thrower to pic the ball up - Coravs gutters having no problem to sneak in and score on my drive.
The next kickoff the same thing happened but I had learnt my lesson and covered the ball with more tails. When my thrower fumbbled this time Corav couldn't pick the ball up and the next turn my thrower finally succeeded and I was able to loosely cage near the sideline. After a turn or two of pressure I was able to break free and hand off to a gutter to take the ball up field before stalling out for 1-1 at half time.
After the break every single roll went in my favor - every block resulted in at least a stun, the weather changed and every pickup was successful, Corav rolled nothing but skulls and pushbacks, a pitch invasion took out 6 of the seven rats on his line and I even got two blitzes which I was able to take advantage of.
At the end there was nothing Corav could do but click the turn marker. Having said this he didn't really complain at all and I'd like to think at least some of it was my doing.
